Do you want to try and pilot a large, wide-body airliner?

The Boeing 737 flight simulator will help you do this. This full replica of a Boeing 737 NG cockpit mounted on a motion platform will ensure a real flight sensation. Seated in the captain seat, you will have a chance to perform a take-off and landing on your own.

Thrill-seekers may perform landing in an emergency situation, such as bad weather, landing on water or with a failed engine.

Just imagine how great it would be to share your overall impression of this experience with your friends!

Why don't they give parachutes to the passengers?

This sounds strange, but a parachute will most likely not save your life if the plane starts to fall.

▪️Even in a calm situation, most people can't put one on correctly and land safely.

▪️In order to jump out of a plane and not get hurt, an aircraft should fly slowly and not higher than 16,000 feet.

▪️But there are some passengers that take parachutes as carry-on luggage. You can follow suit, but you should know that a parachute costs as much as a good car.

Did you know that flights over the Himalayas are prohibited?

The average altitude of the Himalayas is about 8.000 meters, and a modern airliner’s maximum flight level ranges from 10.000 to 12.000 meters. So in the event of an emergency situation, e.g. cabin depressurisation, pilots will have to descend to an altitude of 3.000 meters A.S.L. within 15 minutes, so that passengers can breathe easily. But over the Himalayas there is nowhere to descend, therefore flights are banned for safety reasons.

The second factor is permanent turbulence. Powerful air currents pass over these mountains, so to make flights safe and comfortable, all airplanes fly over them from the southern - Indian - side (an exception is made for excursion tour airplanes only - they are allowed to fly over the mountains but via special routes).

Why is food so tasteless on airplanes?

At high altitudes taste buds perceive the taste of food in a different way due to the following reasons 👉

Interestingly, during the flight only perception of sweet and salty foods is suppressed whereas the so called “umami” fifth taste gets more intensive. It’s typical for shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, tomatoes, sardines and some luxury cheeses.

“Our sense of umami is stronger at altitude, that’s why tomato juice and “Bloody Mary” are so popular on airplanes,” - says Professor Charles Spence of the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford.

Did you know that pilots and co-pilots eat different meals on a flight?

There is a separate menu for pilots with a few dishes they can choose from. Say, if the pilot prefers chicken the co-pilot will get fish or meat.

👉This is the best way to avoid food poisoning from the same ingredients, for if one pilot gets sick the co-pilot will have to take over the controls of the plane.

But there are still some airlines that do not follow this rule, and pilots may get the same food as passengers.

Is turbulence dangerous for an airplane?

Turbulence is one of the most common natural phenomena encountered during a flight. Despite the fact that this problem is not considered to be serious and presents no real danger, many people are very scared of turbulence. Turbulence is not regarded as an emergency as it occurs almost on every flight.

Before the flight pilots receive information on weather conditions and for the most part know in advance where exactly the plane will fall into a turbulence zone. Any aircraft is capable of withstanding enormous loads that can be much higher than those occurring in turbulence.

❗The history of civil aviation does not know a single case of an aircraft crash due to turbulence. Turbulence is mainly dangerous for passengers in the cabin in terms of exposure to injuries if their seat belts are not fastened or overhead luggage compartments open, spilling out packages and bags on them.

What is actually the TFT Aero Dubai flight simulator?

It’s the most true-to-life Boeing 737 NG flight simulator for public flight experience. With the aid of such simulators pilots practice and master their skills before performing real flights.

The flight simulator is designed as an encapsulated cockpit mounted on a motion platform, being a full replica of a Boeing 737 NG cockpit. The flight simulator fully replicates flight dynamics, including accelerations and turbulence. Its flight control systems function in full conformity with those of a genuine airplane.

The view from this cockpit is amazing! The high resolution picture displayed on the spherical screens provides for full immersion into reality. So try it yourself rather than trying to imagine. Book your flight right now and feel like an aircraft pilot ➡ .aero.dubai

7 things that annoy flight attendants.

Flight attendants’ job on board an airplane is not about relaxing or travelling. Their work is rather hard and dangerous. One shouldn’t think that a flight attendant is a counterpart to a waiter who does nothing but smile and offer drinks. Attending to passengers is by far not a key function, they’ve got much more responsibilities.

Let’s try and think what lies behind their smiles and what habits or behaviour of passengers annoy them.
🔹When a passenger’s answer to the question “Would you like some tomato, orange or apple juice?” is “Freshly squeezed cherry juice”. This example is taken from real life.
🔹 Passengers who stand up immediately after the plane lands, even before the display board goes off. This is unsafe and risky as in the event of an abrupt braking one may be swept away into the aisle and get injured or injure other passengers.
🔹On charter flights, some passengers - when leaving the plane - often try to take a life vest with them pretending it’s for the sake of a child – “to have a swim in a swimming pool”. It does not sound cool or funny. Don’t ever take anything from the cabin, especially items that might save lives.
🔹Passengers who do not greet flight attendants when boarding the plane, ignoring them or shooting strange glances.
🔹Passengers who walk shoeless or barefoot down the aisle or to WC. For hygiene reasons, don’t ever do that.
🔹Passengers who change babies’ diapers on a folding table. Most aircraft lavatories are equipped with changing tables – use these.
🔹Applause on landing. It genuinely puzzles the crew, and the pilots won’t hear it anyway.

And have you ever done anything like that?

GO-AROUND PROCEDURE

In aviation, a missed approach, or a go-around, is an absolutely standard procedure that does not pose any risk.

The main reasons for a go-around are:
- another aircraft on the runway;
- weather conditions;
- flight crew errors (strange as it may seem, a timely decision to go around speaks for a pilot’s high professionalism).

❗There is a dangerous phenomenon called wind shear that requires an immediate go-around. It is characterized by an abrupt change in wind direction or speed which may lead to an aircraft’s speed loss. A go-around is the only right decision, and this policy is being followed by all prominent air companies nowadays.

If there is a slightest doubt about a safe landing the approach should be aborted. Besides, a go-around decision can be made by both the captain and the co-pilot, in which case the other shall obey immediately.
