Islamabad Traffic Police have clarified the latest government policy regarding tinted car windows, explaining which types of window tints are allowed and which are restricted for security reasons.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain R. Hamza Humayun stated that rear car windows are allowed to have tint between 40% and 50%, while front-side window tints are restricted because they can make it difficult for authorities to identify drivers during security checks.

According to the CTO, driver visibility is an important safety factor, which is why tinting on front windows is not permitted. He explained that most vehicles come with factory-installed tints on rear windows, while full dark tint is rarely provided by manufacturers.

Factory-Fitted Tint Rules

Vehicles that come with factory-installed tinted glass must have proper import documentation from the Ministry of Interior. These documents may be required during inspections to confirm that the tint is officially approved.

Police Enforcement

Captain Humayun also clarified that traffic police are responsible for enforcing government policies related to vehicle safety and security.
