The soulmate concept is a lie. In a world of 7.63 billion people there are many that fulfill much of our criteria of a “perfect” match and that’s a good thing. People who view themselves as soulmates tend to be less satisfied when they think of the conflicts in their relationships. It’s inevitable. In the soulmate frame, conflicts are bad. People think, Well, maybe we’re not the perfect fit, and the search for “the one” continues. The search for a soulmate is bu****it too. Because it makes us ungrateful. Unhappy. Unfulfilled. With who we are with. Or if we are alone. Because our expectations are in the fu***ng clouds.
The grass only looks greener on the other side, your friends’ relationships only look perfect. Wake up from your soulmate fantasy. When you discount the notion of a soulmate or “the one,” you open yourself up to experiences. Without a preconceived notion about what it should be. Without constantly worrying about the future. I dated men who looked good on paper, who performed occasional grand gestures but made me feel like s**t on a day to day basis. F**k that. Now I date who I want to date, those who make me feel good. To me love is comfort and feeling good every day is the most important thing in the world. I wish you the same my darlings. Happy Valentine’s Day. 😉❤️
