To all the teachers out there - I know it's the school holidays and you are getting some well deserved chilling time but I am sure as well you are also having a few thoughts about planning for next term - so I've got something to throw into the equation for you...

Short +Sweet was started in 2002 by Mark Cleary - it was the world's first Short+Sweet festival and established the 10-minute play format that is still used today - and has been in Dubai since 2010.

In about 2005, Short + Sweet for Schools started in Australia and following successful schools and youth editions in Australia and internationally, we are now bringing Short + Sweet for Schools to UAE students - with it being based at the Theatre by QE2 on the Queen Elizabeth 2 , Dubai.

The Festival Director Lucinda Brown is the lady to contact about entering a team or teams for your schools. Entries are being taken from now until the end of September, when we have to close entries - as the competition will be over a number of weekends in November. Click to enter via the Google Form below...

PLEASE NOTE THAT NOVEMBER IS FOR STUDENTS IN YEARS 10 TO 13 - THERE WILL BE COMPETITIONS IN 2027 FOR JUNIOR SCHOOL AND YEARS 7 TO 10!

Get ready for a night of gloriously irreverent comedy as the anarchic world of FATHER TED comes to the stage. Inspired by the Channel 4 cult TV classic, this fast-paced theatrical outing delivers sharp dialogue, absurd situations and nonstop laughs, bringing the spirit of Craggy Island vividly to life.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, expect a seriously funny night out.

The show is performed by the Dubai Drama Group – a brilliantly talented community theatre company that has been at the heart of Dubai’s performing arts scene for over 40 years who are renowned for their high-quality and hugely entertaining productions. We’re delighted to welcome them to Theatre by QE2 and The QE2 Dubai for the very first time.

And that's a WRAP!

What a brilliant show by Magic Phil, Emma Quintin, Alex Durston & Heidi Barlow. Did I mention that Magic Phil wrote the script too - he did many times - IYKYK!.

A special congratulations to our stage floor which surveyed a major impact with Phil's nose and came out fairly undamaged - Floor 1 - Magic Phil 0 !

Thank you to everyone who supported the show - from the UAE magazines and pages and groups, to the many people sharing codes and posts and to the UAE government who ran some fantastic adverts for us!

We have to admit it's been a horrible few months - with no shows and no cashflow - but we appear to be out the other side now (hopefully) and there are some silver linings - we never knew we had such amazing local talent (for Elf Great Escape, Mother Goose and A Night at the Musicals), and this weekend we have more amazing local talent with our show "The Naughty List - a Cabaret Dinner" featuring Comedy Magician Ash Rose, Vocalist Emma Jane, El Diablo The Dubai Juggler and Will Janssen (of The Boxtones ) - so please come along and support our last in the "HALF WAY TO CHRISTMAS" series.

STOP PRESS: The QE2 Dubai have an amazing room offer THIS WEEKEND with 100% of your room rate can be used on F&B during your. stay i.e. the room is (sort of!) free! Combine that with the show - what a great little !
