The West End Collective just keeps getting stronger and stronger! This week we welcome Ian McIntosh and Kristian Morse to the family.

Ian McIntosh is an award-nominated actor and singer celebrated for his powerful performances and emotional depth. He currently stars as Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Misérables at the Sondheim Theatre, bringing both vocal mastery and deep storytelling to one of musical theatre’s most iconic roles.

Now DXB-based, Kristian has spent over a decade performing professionally across the UK and internationally, with credits including The Choir of Man (West End, Chicago, and European Tour), Grease the musical for Royal Caribbean International, and The Corn Is Green at the National Theatre, London.

Review: Cinderella at the Hackney Empire

Last night we had the joy - and the privilege - of attending the press night and opening of Cinderella at the iconic Hackney Empire. A ticket gifted, and gratefully received, as I joined fellow members of our extended theatrical family for an evening of pure pantomime magic.

From the moment the curtain rose, it was clear we were in for something special. The production is a glowing celebration of craft, comedy and creativity, delivered with the kind of heart that Hackney pantos have become loved for. The set was stunning - richly detailed, bursting with colour and creativity, and full of theatrical surprises. The Act 1 transformation scene was a jaw-dropping spectacle that left the audience audibly gasping - a true moment of stage magic executed to perfection.

A huge shout-out to Collective member Nicholas Maclean, whose Buttons was charming, hilarious, and full of warmth — a real audience favourite. Equally brilliant work from Clive Rowe, directing with grandeur, pace, and superb comedic flair.

Cleo Pettitt costumes deserve their own applause — bold, imaginative, and deliciously extravagant. The Ugly Sisters’ wardrobe alone deserves an award for sheer wit, colour and theatrical flamboyance.

A personal highlight was witnessing the wickedly wonderful Alexandra Waite - Roberts as the Step Mother - a delicious blend of cartoon villainy, elegance and star power. She delivered sass with razor-sharp humour and commanded the stage every moment she stepped into the light. A performance that will be remembered.

With joyous choreography, brilliant song choices, witty writing and a company giving their all, this Cinderella sparkles from start to finish. A feel-good, laugh-out-loud, heart-lifting pantomime that reminds us exactly why we love live theatre.

Brava to all involved. A triumph. ✨ If you can get a ticket — go!

Testimonial: The West End Worldwide Collective provided a professional, engaging, and fun workshop full of practical activities to develop pupils performance skills. Students loved the fast-paced characterisation exercises, script work, and dance choreography. The workshop leaders, Lucy and Leanne shared their knowledge and experience of the industry and gave students an action-packed Masterclass focusing on the classic Musical ‘Hairspray’. What a week for The West End Worldwide Collective! ✨

From packed studios to buzzing auditoriums, we’ve just wrapped an incredible run of masterclasses across 3 schools, 2 performing arts centres, and with over 100 passionate participants.

Lucy Magee, CEO was honoured to be joined by Olivier Award–winning actress Leanne Jones — the original Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray — whose talent, warmth, and powerhouse presence lit up every room. It was a joy to stand share the magic of performance with the next generation once more, a true privilege.

In just a few days, we covered… 3 schools, 2 performing arts centres, 100 participants, 5 million dance steps, 3 trillion music notes and a whole lot of Hairspray!
