For Art Dubai’s upcoming special edition, HUNA returns with their talks series, featuring leading cultural figures in conversation spanning art, lifestyle and contemporary cultural production.

Presented in collaboration with ARM Holding and HUNA, the HUNA talks bring together voices from media, design, wellness, publishing and cultural institutions to explore how art shapes the ways we live, gather and communicate.

Moving beyond a single discipline, the programme considers the wider ecosystem around artistic production — from the platforms that circulate ideas to the spaces, objects and communities that define contemporary life.

HUNA Talks will take place on Friday 15 May at Madinat Jumeirah.

Episode 3: The City

Leading up to Art Dubai’s special edition, we are releasing a series of short films reflecting on 20 years of the fair.

As Dubai grew into a global meeting point, so did Art Dubai — evolving alongside the city, its communities and its cultural ambitions.

What began as the Gulf Art Fair became something rooted in place, shaped by exchange, dialogue and a shared vision.

This episode reflects on how Art Dubai reimagined the role of a fair within a city — becoming a platform where regional narratives meet global conversations.

Art Dubai Special Edition, taking place 15–17 May 2026.

Directed and filmed by Ted Beagles

Featuring: Aaron Cezar, Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, Myrna Ayad, Alexie Glass-Kantor and Andree Sfeir-Semler

Art Dubai, in collaboration with Ab-Anbar Gallery, is pleased to present Silk Road by Neda Razavipour as part of the Art Dubai Special Edition.

Working with textiles, Razavipour creates large-scale, architectural forms that explore movement and material memory.

Silk Road unfolds as an expansive tapestry, its surface layered with interwoven motifs that shift with light and movement.

Rather than a fixed image, the work reads as a field in flux, where forms appear and dissolve, tracing connections across histories of trade and exchange.

Developed in collaboration with designer Afsaneh Modir Amani and produced with Flanders Tapestries, the work reveals itself through scale, texture and duration.

On view 15–17 May at Madinat Jumeirah.

| In The Studio | with Edgar Orlaineta, whose works will be part of Carbon 12 at Art Dubai Special Edition.

Born in 1972 in Mexico City, Edgar Orlaineta develops hybrid sculptural forms that draw on modernism, popular culture and specific historical moments. His work engages with post-war design and architecture, often characterised by biomorphic forms shaped by surrealist influence. Through this lens, he revisits industrial design objects that shift from mass-produced goods into highly valued collectors’ items, questioning their symbolic and economic status.

By introducing craft-based interventions and combining them with every day, historically neutral objects, he disrupts their original function and meaning. These assemblages and interventions seek to suspend notions of utility and value, opening new readings that reactivate the legacy of the historical avant-garde.

Al-Hawajri works across a variety of mediums and techniques including painting, video and photography, and employs unconventional materials such as household spices and animal bones. Al-Hawajri's notable projects include Cactus Borders, Animal Farm, and Guernica-Gaza.

Art Dubai, in collaboration with Leila Heller Gallery, is pleased to present two monumental installations by Kevork Mourad as part of the Art Dubai Special Edition.

‘The Memories of Stone’ form a powerful dual presentation, bringing together suspended and freestanding structures that transform drawing into space.

Working directly through hand-drawn mark-making, Mourad builds expansive environments where images of architecture, landscape and history emerge, fragment and reassemble.

These are ambitious, large-scale works that shift between stillness and movement, holding a tension between structure and collapse.

Developed through a practice that often unfolds live alongside music, the works carry a quiet sense of rhythm, where drawing becomes both image and action.

Kevork Mourad is a Syrian-Armenian artist whose work brings together visual art, music and live performance, including long-standing collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble.

On view 15–17 May at Madinat Jumeirah.

This programme builds on a multi-year partnership between the two institutions, bringing together artists from Alserkal Avenue galleries who are also participating in the fair.
