You don’t need to be an artist. You just need to show up. 🎨

On Wednesday 27 May at 2PM, I’m hosting an Acrylic Pour Workshop at Warehouse 34 Rooted, Alserkal Avenue, and you’re going to create a painting you actually made yourself.

Here’s how it works: you pick your colors, I walk you through the pour technique, and the paint does the rest. Every piece comes out completely unique. No experience needed, just bring your energy.

I’ve been a part of a lot of group exhibitions in the last 20 years, but I have to say the grand opening of was like non other.

The energy in the room was unreal! The collective put together a lot of effort in a very short amount of time to bring it all together and I’m just glad I get to be a small part of it.

After the year we’ve had in Dubai, the creative scene has been massively impacted along with other businesses ofc. The community coming together in this space felt so alive and just the thing we needed.

Really hoping this is the first step to turning things around and let’s help keep the creative communities alive in Dubai by supporting your local artists.

Much love to everyone that came out to support the opening and I hope to see you again at the events that are lined up for the month.

Here's what happens when you set up to do a cute acrylic pour painting, and end up unpacking purpose, perfectionism, and what it actually means to choose a creative life!

That's exactly what went down when my friend came to my studio.

She originally filmed a short interview for her Instagram, but what we talked about went so much deeper than what made the cut. So we kept the camera rolling.

For 4 years I've been telling myself a story.
A story about the city I'm in.

The market that doesn't get me. The version of success I'd have if only I were somewhere else.

It brought me this far. It also kept me stuck.

Today I wrote about what happens when you finally decide to let the story go, and what you choose to tell yourself instead.

I used to think calling myself a full-time artist meant I just painted all day.
I don't.

I build websites. I design systems. I create digital products. I help other artists figure out the tech that stands between them and a real online presence.

I'm still an engineer somewhere at my core. For a while, that felt like a contradiction. Like I didn't fit neatly into either world.

But the older I get in this business, the more I realize that creative multi-hyphenates aren't the exception. We're just the ones who refused to let one identity swallow all the others.
