I moved here in 2010 and have worked for five years as a teacher. Everything changed six months ago when I had my first baby. At school, I was used to doing ten things at once, juggling 22 children, constantly rushing around, but all of a sudden I had only one focus, which gave me time to think. I loved being a mum but desperately missed the creative side of being a teacher. One day while Lewis was napping, I looked at some laundry that needed folding: sheets, t-shirts and baby blankets. I began daydreaming and wondering what else it could be. Twenty minutes later it was laid out on the floor and it had become a scene with balloons in the sky. When Lewis woke up, I placed him in the middle and it had become a magical portal to an adventure. My baby was now flying in the sky and the laundry had become make believe props. As the weeks and months went by the scenes became more imaginative and incorporated more and more household items. I drew inspiration from stories, the immediate world around me and my imagination. Family in Scotland couldn't wait to see the 'adventures' that Lewis was going on each day. People kept commenting on how they wished they could do something similar for their own children. And so...Make Believe Baby was born! It's an easy three step process:
1. Browse the scenes that I have created, tried and tested with my son. These scenes can be customised for you if you require different colours or layout. These cost 300 AED each. If you don't see what you want, contact me with your idea. Tell me what you want and I can create an exclusive scene just for you. This costs an extra 200 AED.
2. Once you have decided on your baby's adventure, liaise with me to complete the shoot. I do the photographs at my home in Dubai. I will have the scene ready and waiting for you, so that it should take 30 minutes to an hour. This includes editing time for the photos.
3. Once you are happy with the photograph, I will give a digital copy to you. Due to the nature of the photos, they are best done with babies who aren't mobile yet. However, they can also be done with little ones who are old enough to understand how to lie still!
