Jurassic Ocean in China

Hello IO team developed an interactive zone for the renovated "Sea Palace" museum complex in Qingdao, China.
"Sea Palace" is one of the most recognizable objects of Qingdao, a white hemispherical building with a unique design on the shore of the Yellow Sea. For a long time the site was under renovation and closed to the public, but now it has been given a second life by combining culture + technology into one concept. Now this museum takes guests on an immersive journey across the ocean to explore marine life, with impressive scenery and original content.

Our zone is part of a large project about marine life and is dedicated to ancient inhabitants of the world's oceans, such as megalodon, mosasaurus and elasmosaurus. We realized a part of the museum that is dedicated to the ancient inhabitants of the world's oceans, including such giants as Megalodon, Mosasaurus, Elasmosaurus. The installation is designed to show how the habitat map of these sea creatures was formed, emphasizing the role of natural selection and competition between species.

The immersive experience is achieved with a 10-meter-wide, complex-shaped screen-wall and a 27-square-meter interactive floor. Visitors will be able to choose one of the points on the world map and learn more about the ancient reptiles that lived there. The complex is currently operating in soft-opening mode, but the official opening is scheduled for May 1, 2024.

We would like to tell you more about what awaits you inside the Sber Pavilion. The exposition illustrates Sber's evolution, reflecting the changing wants and needs of our country's residents. Sber develops high-tech, convenient, and reliable products, contributing to the realization of human potential. Human beings are the key element of progress, and Sber's projects significantly contribute to the country's development, adhering to the principle that everything starts with the individual.

The main theme of the exposition is artificial intelligence, which serves as a guide for visitors. All multimedia content, including texts, images, videos, and music, is created using Sber's AI developments, such as GigaChat and Kandinsky.

We applied the principle of multi-sensoriality in creating our installations, striving to engage all the senses of visitors and going beyond the usual screens. We were focused on creating unique mechanics that unite the physical and digital worlds.

The pavilion features 13 thematic zones, each corresponding to a specific aspect of human life. Visitors can familiarize themselves with Sber's historical and modern offices, explore a smart home, immerse themselves in the city of the future, explore the world of knowledge with Sber, or go on a virtual journey across the country, restoring inner harmony and health.

The project turned out to be large-scale and profound. We put our heart and soul into it and meticulously worked out every element of the pavilion. We are sincerely proud of our work and grateful for the positive feedback from our guests!

Today we would like to tell you about our multimedia pre-show at the Sber Pavilion.

This is a unique immersive show in which the audience travels in a "time elevator" through different periods of the history of the country and Sber. Through this lens, we show how people, technology, our country and Sber have changed.

The journey is guided by the Salute assistant, who leads the audience through all stages of the installation. The show includes impressive multimedia elements: surround sound, multiple screens around the hall, a kinetic platform that creates the effects of lifting and lowering content.

The show is divided into three main stages reflecting Sber's transformation: from product-centricity and customer-centricity to human-centricity. The show is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also extremely informative. It allows viewers to see the history of the company in a dynamic and fascinating format!

Our joint project with Arcadia Earth and WWF opened its doors today! It was realized thanks to a deep desire for change and an unwavering commitment to a sustainable future.

Arcadia Earth aims to ignite a global movement that promotes harmony between humanity and our precious planet. Biodiversity loss and climate change are reaching catastrophic levels, but the next decade is critical if we are going to reverse this path. The Regenerate Canada plan is leading the way to prevent our planet from crossing an irreversible line that could lead to devastating consequences, such as extreme weather events, species extinction, and severe climate disruption.

Our company Hello IO has existed since 2011, over the years we have gained the necessary experience and expertise to work with complex technologies (projection mapping, tracking, data processing, machine vision and etc) and large spaces. We have realized many immersive high-tech spaces with challenging concepts and tight deadlines. This is due to the work of a large and close-knit team of professionals in different specialties - from scriptwriters and testers to content producers.

Because of that, we became a part of this project. Our immersive zone is trying to explore that theme. Сovering an area of 270m2, it is divided into two parts by a prominent yellow line. On one side of the line, visitors’ actions contribute to the destruction of nature, while on the other side, their actions help restore it. The more actions a visitor takes, the further into the future he travels.

In our zone we used floor tracking and touch on the walls: the particles on the wall react only to touches, and on the floor to movement around the hall. The entire real-time graphic is made up of particles: trees, glaciers, animals. Millions of real-time particles are controlled on a single PC. And from that same PC, it’s mapped to 16 projectors. All objects in the scene react to the actions of visitors (from activation of 60 different icons). The particles on the wall react only to touches, and on the floor to movement around the hall. Objects can grow, collapse, etc.

This immersive experience highlights the delicate balance between human activities and the environment, emphasizing the importance of conscious choices in preserving and restoring the natural world of Canada.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this project, it’s an honor to create something that can make a difference in the world.

We start a new year with a story about the achievements of previous one. In November, an amazing 2100 m² pavilion of Sber was opened. The pavilion's concept, general production and multimedia content were all done by us. This is a huge project, and it is difficult to tell everything about it in one post. Therefore, we will divide our story into three publications. As a teaser, we want to tell you about the multimedia facade.

A huge media cube hidden behind the columns is installed at the pavilion entrance. This cube creates 3D and optical illusions using Naked Eye technology, which provides an amazing depth of image.

During the day, short clips are shown: announcements of important events in the Pavilion, advertisements of Sber's partners, and pictures of Russia's nature. In the evening, visitors can enjoy a vibrant multimedia show demonstrating Sber's technologies and neural networks: the Christofari supercomputer, the Kandinsky and GigaСhat neural networks, and the Simformer neural network for music generation.

In September this year, we completed the Rescue School project.

This is a completely new storytelling experience for us, where young visitors are presented with a 30-minute interactive storyline involving missions to save the city. There are six missions in total available for the attraction, which are divided into two sessions. Each theme is visually unique: in one you rescue sea creatures in the water depths; in another you engage in a battle with robots in space.

Before the mission begins, young guests will receive a briefing on the space shuttle from senior and experienced rescuers, go through a portal to the future and, most importantly, interactive content that reacts to the actions of the young defenders of the city. "Rescue School" offers a variety of mechanics for interacting with projections: you have to fire a blaster to unfreeze the city or defeat a dragon; throw dice on the floor or walls to save the ship from bugs; use a projection on the floor to clear the ocean from debris; use bracelets to travel to new worlds. After completing the mission, visitors will enjoy a victory dance and a grand return to Earth.

This is the kind of immersive experience we are trying to achieve. The young visitor is fully immersed in a fascinating story that encourages them to complete missions to save the world. A lot of effort has been put into designing the levels, each of them is breathtaking in terms of detail and design. Thanks to video mapping technology and modern tracking systems, the content transforms according to the setting and guests' behavior, providing individual game play from mission to mission. And most importantly, the game process is simple and intuitive, no special manuals or instructions are required, the content sets the meaning and purpose of each mission.

We were very excited to be involved in such an exciting and large-scale project.

We would like to tell you how we have extensively updated the Smart City interactive exhibition at VDNKh, which was opened in September 2016. This is a large-scale multimedia exposition dedicated to the technologies that people uses in all sectors of urban life.

New exhibits demonstrate breakthrough IT solutions and useful services. We have added three brand new zones.

“Digital Twin”: This is a unique platform that helps plan the construction of residential, industrial, and social facilities, make management decisions, and monitor the implementation of important city projects. With the help of a virtual quadcopter, visitors can digitize the exhibition area and closely examine objects - photorealistic 3D models that appear on the screen in real-time. They can be zoomed in or out and also view additional information about them.

We have also updated the installation dedicated to the development of the transport system over the past 10 years: new metro lines and stations, intra-city railway lines and transfer hubs, bicycle lanes and rental stations, urban mobility, and the development of new modes of transportation.

The new “Biometrics” stand demonstrates the biometric payment system for transportation in Moscow, which can already be used at all metro stations. Visitors can register in the demonstration system and then stand on a black sticker: the neural network will recognize the person and open the entrance.

On May 25th, an exhibition, "Number 12," dedicated to the Zenit soccer club and its fans, was opened at the Zifergauz Digital Art Gallery.

Modern media artists created new projects in an attempt to redefine the rituals and traditions of Zenit fans. At the exhibition you can learn players' personal stories, hear what Gazprom Arena sounds like during a match, imagine soccer in the future, make a wave as if your team has scored a goal, or play a virtual ball. This is a unique exhibition, which allows you to dive into the incredibly exciting world of fans.

In this project Hello IO was responsible for the technical support of the 4 zones. We have developed a powerful tracking software, which allows to work with the most different sets.

In this project we also managed to implement several tracking solutions and integrate them with the artists' work. The most complicated project was a huge 15 meters long interactive wall, where the picture from 5 Azure depth sensors was stitched together and processed in the software with minimal delays.

We worked directly with artists, developers and the gallery to ensure our software would meet both creative and technical challenges.

We are very proud of this project and the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented group of people! We would like to thank the Zifergauz Gallery, which initiated the project and invited curators to implement it, as well as the agency of cultural projects NADO, the curator and co-founder Olga Vad, and the producer Yulia Loginova. The project is incredibly beautiful and immersive!

The exhibition will last till August 27th and the most important thing: the entrance is free (https://zifergauz.timepad.ru/event/2407633/).

We would like to share with you an awesome Media Cube project which was implemented for a large IT company in Shenzhen city.

We have developed an application that creates generative graphics from a huge number of photos, from which the program subsequently produces an incredibly hypnotizing and engaging visual. The installation has several features: active, when people interact with the content in the gallery, and passive, when all uploaded photos are mixed and animated, until a new person touches the screen.

In addition to uploading photos, there is a lot of room for customization. We have also implemented several visual design themes for the application in passive mode.

Media Cube is ideal for immersive photo wall and showrooms. It is a unique installation in which art and technology combine to create an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
