Jurassic Ocean in China
Hello IO team developed an interactive zone for the renovated "Sea Palace" museum complex in Qingdao, China.
"Sea Palace" is one of the most recognizable objects of Qingdao, a white hemispherical building with a unique design on the shore of the Yellow Sea. For a long time the site was under renovation and closed to the public, but now it has been given a second life by combining culture + technology into one concept. Now this museum takes guests on an immersive journey across the ocean to explore marine life, with impressive scenery and original content.
Our zone is part of a large project about marine life and is dedicated to ancient inhabitants of the world's oceans, such as megalodon, mosasaurus and elasmosaurus. We realized a part of the museum that is dedicated to the ancient inhabitants of the world's oceans, including such giants as Megalodon, Mosasaurus, Elasmosaurus. The installation is designed to show how the habitat map of these sea creatures was formed, emphasizing the role of natural selection and competition between species.
The immersive experience is achieved with a 10-meter-wide, complex-shaped screen-wall and a 27-square-meter interactive floor. Visitors will be able to choose one of the points on the world map and learn more about the ancient reptiles that lived there. The complex is currently operating in soft-opening mode, but the official opening is scheduled for May 1, 2024.
