Making Worlds sergisinin açılışında, Christian Jankowski’ın performansının bir parçası olmaktan büyük mutluluk duydum.

İzleyicinin sergiye ulaşabilmek için önündeki kapıları bir çekiçle kırmasını gerektiren bu performans; arzu, sabır, kararlılık ve mücadele üzerine güçlü bir metafor sunuyor. İçeridekine gerçekten ulaşmak istiyorsanız, önünüze çıkan engeller karşısında ısrarcı olmalı ve kendi yolunuzu açacak cesareti göstermelisiniz.

Bu metafor, benim sanat yolculuğumla da derinden örtüşüyor. Bir kadın olarak sanat dünyasında varlığımı kabul ettirebilmek, önyargıları kırmak ve kendi alanımı yaratmak için ben de yıllar boyunca pek çok kapıya çekiç vurdum. Çünkü bazı kapılar kendiliğinden açılmaz; onları inançla, sabırla ve kararlılıkla kırmanız gerekir…

I was delighted to take part in Christian Jankowski’s performance during the opening of Making Worlds.

Requiring visitors to break through the doors standing between them and the exhibition, the performance offers a powerful metaphor for desire, patience, determination and struggle. If you truly wish to reach what lies beyond, you must persist in the face of obstacles and find the courage to forge your own path.

This metaphor deeply resonates with my own journey in the art world. As a woman, I too have had to strike many doors with a hammer to challenge prejudice, assert my presence and create a space of my own. Some doors do not open by themselves; they must be broken through with conviction, patience and determination.
