Singapore Offers Nearly US$55,000 in Support Per Child—But Not as One Cash Payment
Singapore has announced a major expansion of financial support for families. Under the new SG Child Support Package, every Singapore Citizen child can receive up to S$62,000, regardless of birth order.
Combined with existing MediSave and Edusave benefits, the total support reaches approximately S$70,000—nearly US$55,000—from birth to age 17.
The support includes:
• S$10,000 Baby Gift in cash
• S$32,000 in Child Credits—S$2,000 annually from ages 1 to 16
• S$5,000 Child Development Account grant
• Up to S$5,000 in government co-matching
• S$10,000 education-account top-up at age 17
• Existing MediSave and Edusave benefits
However, this is not a US$55,000 cheque handed to parents after childbirth. The assistance is distributed over 17 years through cash payments, savings contributions, healthcare support and education funds.
