Very long Rant ahead: I am livid! Sick to my stomach angry!!!
My daughter started to develop a very bad rash, very quickly, last Thursday. We thought it was from the new horseradish cheese she ate off my sandwich.
She still had the rash Sunday, we took her to urgent care, they said it was something viral and sent her home on Benadryl. And said is she didn’t improve to come back.
It hadn’t improved by Wednesday so we took her to Seattle childrens hospital, we insisted this is ringworm from our new kitten, they didn’t listen, they said no (without running any test) they again diagnosed as viral and sent her home on some steroid cream medicine (One of the worst things that you can do for ringworm). And gave her a dermatology appoint at SCH for Friday.
This just wasn’t sitting right with me so I got an emergency vet appointment and took my kitten in and it was confirmed that she had severe ringworm(we had only had this kitten for a few days)
I called Seattle’s Children’s Hospital twice and told them that has confirmed this is ringworm can we please get my daughter started they again refused and said that it wasn’t, and they weren’t going to prescribe anything.
Her dermatologist appointment was Friday at noon they ran the test for ringworm it came back negative I insisted they go back and redo it because they didn’t wait enough time (you have to let the solution dissolve in the scrape slide)
As we are checking out to leave, they come back and tell us that it is positive and it is indeed ringworm.
My daughter has been suffering with this for a week, it is covering her eyes her entire face her body all the way to her knees. She could’ve been started on this medication from the very beginning but nobody listened to us.
Watching my 3 1/2-year-old daughter go through this is heartbreaking. I have several spots now as well.
I don’t understand how one of the top children’s hospitals in the states could miss diagnosed my daughter and then missed treat her
