Vikings thought their pale, mottled skin looked like a drowned sailor... floating in the dark Arctic water.

Meet Pelorus Jack — a Risso's dolphin who guided ships through the dangerous Cook Strait in New Zealand for 24 YEARS (1888-1912)!

Sailors waited for him. He would appear and guide them through the deadly channel. He never led a ship astray.

Someone once shot at him — and Jack forgave humans and kept guiding! The shooter was never allowed to work again.

In 1904, New Zealand made him the FIRST wild animal in the WORLD to be protected by law.

A group of humpbacks swims in a circle blowing bubbles, creating a WALL that traps thousands of fish inside.
