Happy World Dance Day 💃🕺
In uncertain times like these, when so many people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or a little lost, there’s something incredibly powerful in going back to something simple… and human: movement, music, and play.
As a lifelong performing arts advocate, I’ve seen firsthand how dance, singing, and theatre can transform people of all ages. This isn’t just about performance—it’s about connection, expression, and wellbeing.
Science backs it up too:
✨ Movement releases endorphins and reduces cortisol (stress hormones)
✨ Group activities like dance and choir boost oxytocin, strengthening social bonds
✨ Learning choreography or music improves memory, coordination, and cognitive flexibility
✨ Creative expression supports emotional regulation and mental resilience
But beyond all that… it’s about joy.
So if you’re feeling stuck, take this as your sign:
Join a dance class.
Sing in a choir.
Sign up for that community theatre group.
Give yourself permission to play again.
Because sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is simply move. ❤️
