تم تصميمها على يد الفنان الإماراتي متعدد المواهب أحمد سعيد العريف الظاهري وتعد مروحة قصر الإمارات مندرين أوريانتل مستوحاة من التراث الإماراتي الأصيل المرتبط في الغوص بحثا عن اللؤلؤ .حيث تم انتقاء مئتي لؤلؤة رائعة بعناية لتمثل الجزر التي تتشكل منها أبوظبي . و تعتبر اللؤلؤة التي تتوسط المروحة عن تميز خريطة مدينة أبوظبي و تفردها، أما شفرات المروحة فهي مصنوعة من خشب المحامل (نوع من القوارب المحلية)، في منجرة سيف بالقيزي . كما تمثل السلسلة من الفضة المطلية بالذهب ملقط الأنف (الفطام) الذي يستخدمه غواصو اللؤلؤ. و قد تم تزين حواف المروحة بنوع خاص من الخرز و خيوط الفضة المصنوع يدويا على يد الحرفيين ذوي الحس الفني العالي من مشغل غرزة ، ليعطي تباينا راقياً ما بين اللون الأبيض اللؤلؤي و قماش الحرير الأزرق ليعكس جمال الشاطئ الخاص بالمنتجع
Designed by Abu Dhabi-based multidisciplinary artist Ahmad Al Areef, the fan of Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental is inspired by the heritage and history of pearl diving in the country. Two hundred finest pearls are carefully handpicked to represent the islands that form Abu Dhabi. The city's uniqueness is signified by the pearl in the centre of the fan, while the rib of the fan, made with dhow wood, is a material used by divers to make their boats, and the gold metal chain with nose clip symbolises the clip used by pearl divers. Specially handcrafted by artisans and embroiders,the beads and silver threads are artfully embellished at the edges of the fan, lending an elegant contrast between the pearl white colour against the blue silk fabric, illustrating the serene private beach of our resort.
Many thanks to the artisans and embroiders at workshop who worked carefully on intricate details of the embroidery, the carpenters at saifbelgazi carpentry workshop on their mastery in wood work, and finally to jewelry on the customized silver gold plated tassel of the fan.
