As we step into a new year, we’re still glowing from the magic of last year’s ICANSI edition ✨Hosted by Nyari Mukunda Siga and Progress Shoko
We were truly honored to have the Deputy Mayor of Bulawayo grace us with his presence—and yes, he definitely showed us he’s got moves on the dance floor 🕺🏾. The energy was taken even higher by the electrifying dance moves of unofficial prince and great performance from Kay_Kid Umfanomsotho ,while an audience that understood the assignment kept the vibe alive all night long.
One of the most amazing models strutted gracefully on the runway, commanding the space with confidence, elegance, and undeniable presence—leaving the crowd captivated with every step.
The poetry from was sharp, soulful, and on point. Traditional Bulawayo amalisu were enjoyed, umkhemeswane was tasted, alongside a celebration of our indigenous fruits—reminding us of the richness rooted in our land.
It was more than a night out; it was a living expression of Bulawayo’s culture, creativity, and community. A true celebration of who we are and where we come from.
Here’s to creating even more unforgettable moments in the year ahead 🖤✨

Zimbabwe is blessed with a diverse range of indigenous fruits that have been a staple in the country's diet for generations. These fruits are not only a vital source of nutrition but also play a significant role in the country's cultural and economic landscape.

*Some popular indigenous fruits in Zimbabwe:*

- *Matohwe (Azanza garckeana)*: Also known as snot apple, this fruit is widely consumed in Zimbabwe.
- *Tsubvu (Umviyo)*: Known as smelly-berry fingerleaf, this fruit is a favorite among locals.
- *Mauyu (Baobab fruit)*: The baobab tree is a symbol of Zimbabwe's natural heritage, and its fruit is rich in vitamins and minerals.
- *Matamba (Monkey Orange)*: This fruit is sweet and sour, with a unique flavor profile.
- *Hubva*: A type of wild fruit that's rich in nutrients and often eaten fresh or dried.
- *Makwakwa*: A popular fruit in Zimbabwe, often eaten raw or used in traditional dishes.
- *Mazhanje (Wild Loquat)*: A sweet and juicy fruit that's widely consumed in Zimbabwe.
- *Nhunguru (Flacourtia indica)*: A type of fruit that's often eaten raw or used in jams and preserves.
- *Magaka*: A sour fruit that's rich in vitamins and minerals.¹ ² ³

*Importance of indigenous fruits:*

- *Food security*: Indigenous fruits are a vital source of nutrition, especially in rural areas where access to modern food systems is limited.
- *Cultural significance*: These fruits play a significant role in Zimbabwe's cultural heritage, with many being used in traditional medicine and rituals.
- *Economic benefits*: The trade of indigenous fruits provides a source of income for many rural communities.
- *Environmental sustainability*: Indigenous fruit trees are often more resilient to climate change and require less water than exotic species.

*Challenges facing indigenous fruits:*

- *Climate change*: Rising temperatures and changing rainfall patterns are affecting the yield and quality of indigenous fruits.
- *Deforestation*: The clearing of land for agriculture and urbanization is threatening the existence of many indigenous fruit trees.
- *Overharvesting*: The increasing demand for indigenous fruits is leading to overharvesting, which can damage the trees and reduce their yields.
