I had planned to release "When I Was Sick" as the next piece from the MWARI Wangu Poetry Album. But over the past few days, I've carried a burden that I could not ignore,a burden for the girl child. As I looked around and reflected on the realities many young girls face, I found myself praying, "Lord, remember me. Bless me so that I can be a source of protection and provision so that my sister and many others are not forced into the hands of those who would take advantage of them."
Because of that burden, I've decided to pause and release "Remember Me" instead. This is more than a poem; it's a prayer, a cry for the girl child, and a call for us to stand up and make a difference.
