Chipolopolo have lost their 2027 AFCON qualifying opener 3-1 to Algeria in Tizi Ouzou.
Algeria took the lead within two minutes through Jaouen Hadjam. Captain Fashion Sakala levelled early in the second half, but Ibrahim Maza and Anis Hadj Moussa scored within seven minutes of each other to settle it for the hosts.

Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League financial charges against them, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.

The breaches date from 2009 to 2018. No sanction has been decided yet, and City are expected to appeal. The club insists the process "remains ongoing.

President Hakainde Hichilema says he has stayed away from the UN General Assembly for the third year in a row as part of efforts to reduce government spending on foreign travel.
He said his government has cut both the size of delegations and the length of time officials spend in New York, noting that some previously stayed for up to a month.

"This is my third year running. I'm not going to the UN General Assembly. My reason is simple. I'm cutting the size of delegations. I'm cutting the length of stay there," he said.
The President added that when he stays home, officials who would travel with him also remain behind, which saves money. He acknowledged that some of them are unhappy with the decision.

Police in Kabwe have charged and arrested Katele Kalumba under the Cyber Crimes Act, accusing him of publishing content on 11 August intended to humiliate President Hakainde Hichilema.

The charge of harassment falls under Section 22 of the Act. Dr Kalumba was picked up in Chienge on Tuesday and formally charged in Kabwe on Thursday. He has been released on police bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
Police say freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and with respect for the dignity of others.

The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has suspended the licence of KBN TV for 30 days for breaching its guidelines on coverage of the 2026 general election.
The regulator also suspended three other stations, Healing TV, 3FM Radio and Mungu FM Radio, for failing to pay their operating fees.
