Even the wisest girl keeps some coins in her bra. π
Not because she's suffering. Not because she hates spending. But because when things get crazy out there, she's covered. She doesn't panic. She doesn't beg. She moves different.
That's Zambia right now under UPND . πΏπ²
Let's not forget where we came from. In 2021, inflation was at 22%. Prices were rising so fast, your salary was losing value before you even spent it. No one could plan. No one could budget. Businesses couldn't price their goods. Families couldn't survive. That was the reality we lived in β and it drove the cost of living through the roof.
Now? $6.5 billion in foreign reserves β a record this country has NEVER seen. Inflation has dropped to 6.5%. The kwacha has strengthened. The economy is finally predictable.
And that's exactly what protecting your people looks like. More reserves means a stronger kwacha. A stronger kwacha means businesses can plan, traders can price their goods valuably, and ordinary Zambians can survive without waking up every morning to find their money is worth less than yesterday. Stability IS the protection.
Does that mean prices went back down? No β and nobody said they did. But prices are now rising more than three times slower than in 2021. That's what gives your salary a fighting chance to catch up.
And the opposition is crying "but people are suffering, why are we saving?!"
Brother. The girl with coins in her bra is not suffering because of the coins. She's PROTECTED because of the coins. π
A broke government can't protect its people. A government with $6.5 billion in reserves can. πͺπΏπ²
Arguments are very much welcome in the comments. This country doesn't grow through silence β it grows through honest debate. Drop your thoughts. π
