The Snake, Pink Diamonds & The Zebra:
I’m not fond of reptiles, but a few weeks ago I had the urge to sketch snakes, a pink diamond necklace, and zebra skin.
I'm aware that my creations are changing into unusually bold and dramatic statement pieces. But since we’re in our own blind spot while going through change, it took a while for me to understand the themes that came through in my sketches
The purpose of starting with textile pieces was an attempt to free myself from being creatively blocked. Staying only with textile earrings would guarantee getting stuck again.
As a friend reminded me this year, “It’s about movement.”
While working on The Pink Snake, time disappeared. I sketched for hours into the middle of the night and felt energised instead of tired. Completely at peace, like an amazing meditation. This in-the-flow feeling while creating is what I’m after at this stage.
The halfway mark: Today is my 45th birthday :) 🎂
I’ve never felt a stronger need to focus only on what I’m interested in and attracted to than at this stage of my life. So, when a particular theme becomes an obsession (even a short-lived obsession), I’ll follow it to see where it leads - like pulling on a tiny piece of thread.
For The Ones Who Colour Outside The Lines:
Whatever I create relates to people who have an individual approach instead of people who only follow mainstream fashion. No wrongness. Just a preference.
These are people who understand there are no rules for being who they are. They focus more on what makes them different instead of trying to blend in.

The Zebra Skin: No zebra pattern is ever the same.
Although these four neck pieces were not planned, they felt inspired and represent the core themes that are centre stage at the moment: Transformation & Individuality
