Last night at Sankayi, we sat with Vusi Mahlasela — The Voice — a man whose music has always understood that hope is not merely something we speak of, but something we must keep alive.
From the streets of Mamelodi to stages across the world, his songs have travelled far, yet they remain rooted in the soil, stories and spirit of home. Every note a remembrance. Every lyric a prayer. Every song a reminder that, even in a world that often forgets to listen, there is still beauty in paying attention.
For an evening, Sankayi became more than a room filled with music. It became a place where generations met, where memory found melody, and where the soul of South Africa sat among us.
Some evenings end when the music stops. Others stay with you long after the last note has faded.
Thank you, Vusi Mahlasela, for sharing your gift with us. The music may have ended, but the feeling remains.
