The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) is a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening the relationship between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the local community. We work together to create a safer, more secure environment for all residents, businesses, and visitors in the Douglasdale precinct. Our mission is to support crime prevention through community involvement, tra

nsparency, and proactive engagement. We coordinate with local stakeholders, security providers, and SAPS to address safety concerns, share crime trends, and promote responsible citizenship.

๐ŸŸฉ Update: Crime Scene - Bryanston, Sandton, GP

22 June 2026 - 16h50

The scene outside Winnie Mandela Precinct has been cleared and the centre has been reopened. The incident was confirmed as not a shooting - law enforcement had stopped a sought vehicle with suspects outside the centre. We'd like to commend all the teams involved in this success!

On a sunny morning, with the nation rallying behind Bafana Bafana ahead of their opening FIFA World Cup match, a total of 58 estate employees gathered at Lonehill Village Estate for the annual Domestic Workers Forum. Representatives from Douglasdale SAPS, SANCA, the National Credit Regulator (NCR), Boutique Security and Douglasdale CPF were also in attendance.

The attendees were warmly welcomed by Mrs Kerri Rogers, Estate Manager of Lonehill Village Estate. Mrs Freda Boiles, PRO of the Douglasdale CPF, then outlined the role of the CPF and introduced the various stakeholders and speakers.

TOPICS PRESENTED

Warrant Officer Mokwena, Social Crime Prevention โ€“ Douglasdale SAPS, presented on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), covering the process of obtaining a protection order, physical abuse, economic abuse, sexual abuse, intimidation and harassment, as well as stalking.

Sergeant Diale, Sector Manager โ€“ Douglasdale SAPS, discussed common robbery trends, child trafficking awareness, scams and fraud prevention, fire safety, and the dangers of accepting lifts from strangers.

Mrs Dapheny Mulaudzi from SANCA addressed Substance Use Disorder and highlighted the various services and support programmes available through SANCA.

Mrs Zonke Majola from the National Credit Regulator (NCR) spoke about prescribed debt, financial management, understanding credit bureau information, the importance of using registered credit providers, debt counselling for over-indebted consumers, and consumer rights and responsibilities.

Mr Grant Davies from Boutique Security presented on home security awareness and crime prevention.

These forums play an important role in strengthening relationships between law enforcement, stakeholders and members of the community. They provide an opportunity to share information, raise awareness and empower estate employees with knowledge and practical safety information that contributes to a safer and more informed community.

In closing, Mrs Freda Boiles thanked all attendees for taking the time to participate in the forum and for their active involvement during the question-and-answer sessions.

A special word of thanks was extended to Mrs Kerri Rogers and Lonehill Village Estate for hosting the event, as well as to Douglasdale SAPS and all guest speakers for their valuable contributions to the success of the forum.

The road is closed for excavation between Jacaranda Avenue and Olive Street, in the dip near the library.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes where possible.

The Douglasdale CPF Team was alerted to an incident that occurred on Cedar Road near the traffic lights at Fourways Life at approximately 16:50 on 8 June 2026.

A motorist reported being approached by two suspects on foot, both believed to be armed. Fortunately, the motorist was able to drive away safely.

Descriptions of the suspects have been shared with SAPS, CPF members and security companies.

We urge all motorists to remain vigilant, keep valuables out of sight and maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead, particularly when stopped at traffic lights, to allow sufficient space to move away if necessary. Please report any suspicious activity to SAPS on 10111 and your local security company. Information shared on CPF WhatsApp groups also assists in creating awareness and enables SAPS and security companies to respond more effectively, while helping to keep the community informed.

Douglasdale CPF Team urges residents to remain vigilant.

We are seeing an increase in mobile phone snatching and pickpocketing incidents within the precinct.

Criminals are often operating from vehicles with two or three occupants and are targeting people who are distracted while using their mobile phones, waiting for e-hailing services, walking in public areas, or leaving devices unattended on restaurant and coffee shop tables.

Pickpockets are also taking advantage of open handbags, backpacks, and phones or wallets carried in easily accessible pockets.

To reduce your risk:

โœ” Keep your phone out of sight when not in use.
โœ” Remain aware of your surroundings.
โœ” Avoid standing on the roadside while using your cellphone.
โœ” Never leave your phone unattended on a table.
โœ” Keep handbags zipped and securely closed.
โœ” Carry bags in front of your body in crowded areas.
โœ” Avoid carrying phones or wallets in back pockets.
โœ” Be alert to suspicious vehicles or individuals loitering nearby.

A moment of distraction is all a criminal needs.

๐Ÿšจ If you observe suspicious activity, report it immediately to SAPS on 10111, your local security company, and CPF WhatsApp groups.

๐Ÿ“‹ If you have been the victim of a crime, please report the incident and open a case at your nearest SAPS police station. Reporting crime helps SAPS identify trends, allocate resources, and combat criminal activity more effectively.

Together, we can make the Douglasdale Precinct a safer place for all.
