A love too fragile,A love too kind
A love so calm,
A love so gentle,
A love too unfamiliar.
A love that embraces -
too gentle.
Respect mistaken for fear,
So much awe in his eyes
I never understood what he saw.
A love so foreign, left unnoticed.
A whole man, overlooked and unappreciated.
My blind eyes, my oblivion,
My fear to mend
Made me lose the love of my life.
At that time, I didn’t know it.
I gave up the man I prayed for
For a man I lusted over.
Chemistry fooled me.
He never criticized my cooking,
My baking, my looks.
My happiness and ease were his priority.
I was valued, heard, and seen.
I had to lose all that
To realize I was loved and safe.
A love so kind to support my dreams,
A love that wanted me to have a skill and succeed.
A love that believed in me
Yet I didn’t know that’s how he felt.
I wanted more.
I knew I was falling for him;
I just did not understand his love language.
His touch,the warmest.
His hug,literally the safest.
His smile—barely seen,
But it lit up my whole day
To see him happy.
He worked hard for everything,
Including me,
And I never told him how much he meant to me.
My true love.
Humility and pride don’t go together.
My true love was selfless, without boundaries.
And I was selfless,yet
On a journey of self-awareness.
I got distracted by what disguised itself as true love
That stupid spirit of familiarity.
I felt like I belonged,
But my boundaries were overstepped.
Impulsive decisions were made.
Regret is harder than grief.
His pride and manipulation destroyed me.
I miss who I am.
I long for my own love and voice.
I’m unhappy and withering
In despair and resentment.
Who will save me?
Nobody,
Except myself and my love.
If I can dig deep to find my voice,
To vocalize my pain,
To pray and seek my savior,
To accept and heal
My inner core has been defeated.
I need strength,
Even just for two steps.
I’m leaning forward,
But I’m not moving.
I need strength
To step into the wonders of the unknown.
I don’t know what the world has to give.
