To our supporters, artists, DJs, sponsors and everyone who has been part of our journey.
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with Mlogo Hills as the host venue for our future events.
This decision was not made lightly. We believe in creating memorable experiences for our supporters and that requires working with partners who share the same commitment to quality, professionalism and customer satisfaction.
One of the major concerns has been the unreasonable venue booking price and the increasing demands placed on us as event organizers. We appreciate every venue that opens its doors to us but we also believe that partnerships should be fair and beneficial to both parties. We feel that our events have brought significant business and exposure to the venue, especially during quieter periods of the year, yet the costs and expectations placed on us have continued to increase beyond what we believe is reasonable.
More importantly, we have received concerns from many of our supporters regarding the overall experience at the venue. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority, and unfortunately there were several issues that affected the quality of the event. These included alcohol being served with dishes rather than ice buckets despite the higher venue charges, alcohol running out before midnight, ice running out before midnight, plugs being switched off during live performances, toilets not functioning and other operational challenges that impacted the experience of both guests and performers. We also believe it is important to note that our events consistently draw strong attendance and help fill the venue. We are not saying this to boast but it reflects the value we bring to the partnership. The place has not been running for almost a year, so they are capitalizing on us.
Because of the high prices people are charging us, there are a lot of people we failed to pay out of this event incl Sound,Djs,Deco plus security of which we believe every venue should have as part of their venue booking package.Filling up the venue does not automatically mean we made a lot of money.
There has been a lot of sabotage — from gate takings to the booking of equipment and artists.
We are working on that. But let us be clear: we are not going to pay any cent to the venue.
The money they claim we owe them, they already made it from collecting money for cooler boxes at the gate, which was R150 per coolerbox.❗️ The money from the coolerboxes was ours. Not the venue's.They changed it last minute and threatened to cancel the whole event if I didn't allow it.You can't do business like that.
We're not backing down on what belongs to us. An agreement is an agreement.
We remain committed to finding a venue that offers better value, improved facilities and an environment where everyone—from our guests to our artists and DJs—can enjoy the event without unnecessary challenges.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and loyalty. This decision has been made with the future of Denim Affair in mind and we are excited about what comes next. The best is still yet to come.💙
