This was my holiday project. 3 days of painting in front of the tv is the perfect way to relax. I proved to myself that I can produce a painting in less than a year.

Finally finished this painting. A 6+ month project because I am a University student so time is minimal. This picture will have a prequel as part of the story. A larger piece that will hopefully not take the whole year. This was my first piece on wood which is way better than canvas. But shipping costs, yoh!

My mom has been going through boxes of my childhood art. Ages 2-5. What a laugh it has been seeing my world through child art. I see I have been drawing wildlife from a very young age. Definitely keeping my abstract work. When I am famous, it might be quite valuable. A Brent Gademan original "titled finger paint age 2."

The painting I refer to when I say "varsity is really slowing me down" 70% done in January and the last 2 little birds took 8 months! 150cm long by 66cm high.

Got a great new painting started in my mid semester holiday. Trying out oil on wood instead of canvas. It's going great! Huge advantage with the coverage because it uses a lot less paint. Huge disadvantage... this is the smaller of the 2 pieces I have been commissioned to do and it is the width of my car! Shipping costs just got real.

Hello family, friends and followers. University has kept me very busy, but I do have a special painting taking shape. In the meantime, I am proud that one of my matric pieces was chosen to be exhibited at the Tatham Art gallery. The piece I handed in was basically white. I painted it with suntan lotion. Who knew that was a thing. Under UV light the picture turns into a scorpion on some rocks. I can officially say I did my homework by torch light.

Friends, followers and family, my gamble paid off. I matriculated with 88% which was the top mark for art at Maritzburg College. Unfortunately university is definitely slowing me down. I have had some time to paint after our first rounds of tests. Will keep the updates coming.

So this is the big matric final art prac. A huge gamble that I took head on. The piece was 2m x 1.5m to allow for maximum detail. Yes, it is DUST. Trying some new ideas, I used flour for the white sections. Zoom in to see the individual sections.

Inspired by MC Esher's optical illusion all the stair cases go up. The piece is called the LIFE CYCLE OF A SCHOOL BOY. The islands are Inspired by South African artist Simone Adie. Each island represents an aspect of my school life. Art, photography, swimming, studying, classes. I researched MYSELF as the 3rd artist. I don't know any other dust artists.

Here is hoping I impressed the markers with the uniqueness and technical difficult. I cannot make a single mistake in dust.

Had a lot of fun producing this piece for a family in Australia. The eucalyptus tree makes for a beautiful Australian scene. Got another big piece going and then... university! (Hoping that does not slow me down).
