✨💃 THE STORY OF LMRI ACADEMY OF DANCE 💃✨

LMRI’s passion for dance began at just 3 years old, where her love for movement first came alive. From there, her journey grew across many styles including modern dance, hip hop, contemporary, acrobatics, and tap — shaping a lifelong dedication to the art of dance. 🌟

In 2009, she began teaching full time at the Karen Freeman Dance Studio, sharing her passion, knowledge, and love for dance with the next generation of dancers.

Then in 2015, a new chapter began when she was offered the opportunity to become Lead Principal and Owner, and LMRI Academy of Dance was born. 💫

Since then, the studio has continued to grow into something truly special — a space built on leadership, mentorship, and inspiration. We are proud to have a team of award-winning dance teachers who share the same vision and dedication. 🏆

Together, we strive to push boundaries, inspire excellence, and nurture discipline and confidence in every dancer — values that extend far beyond the studio and into everyday life. ❤️

🔥✨ MEET OUR DANCE INSTRUCTOR ✨🔥
Marisa Smith – LMRI Academy of Dance

Marisa is an accomplished choreographer and passionate dance educator who began her dance journey at just 4 years old. Trained in Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, and Contemporary, she completed her Ballet examinations through the Royal Academy of Dance and her Modern examinations through the AIDT.

Her dedication and talent have earned her Honours and Gold awards in every exam, eisteddfod, and competition she has entered — a true testament to her commitment to excellence.

In 2008, Marisa signed her first contract with the NDP Company in Cape Town under Director Deborah McFadden, returning again in 2010, 2014, and 2016, before being awarded the prestigious role of Dance Captain in 2018. During her time with the company, she performed at the National Grahamstown Arts Festival, as well as in numerous corporate productions and TV commercials.

Beyond contemporary and modern dance, Marisa has also excelled as a Hip Hop dancer, competing since the age of 13. In 2014, she proudly represented South Africa at the FISAF International Fitness & Hip Hop Unite World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic.

What an unforgettable journey it has been for our team at Lmri Academy of Dance 💃🌍

From exciting moments and intense emotions to laughter, tears, performances, and unforgettable memories — this experience brought our dancers even closer together. Our small team truly became a little family, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way. ❤️

The girls had the opportunity to practice hard, shine on stage, and create beautiful memories together outside of the competition too. We are beyond proud of every single student who represented our academy with passion, dedication, and heart. ✨

This journey reminded us that no matter what comes our way, together we can achieve incredible things. Although we were a small team this year, we proved that big results come from hard work, determination, and love for what we do. 🌟

We are already looking forward to the next competition and continuing to fly the Lmri Academy of Dance flag high! 🏆
