IDIL SHEARD - Watercolour Artist

The artist, Idil Sheard, has lived in the Sneeuberg Mountains in the Karoo most of her life - as a farmer's wife / teacher and guest house owner. She enjoyed running her restaurant "The village Inn" in Nieu-Bethesda over the past 20 years. Idil Sheard has now retired in the village of Nieu-Bethesda perusing her favourite activities - reading and painting in water

colour. Idil believes that watercolours bring to life the Karoo landscapes in the purest light and best represents this unique landscape. Her paintings show all the seasonal changes, Autum being her favourite and the trees changing in to an aray of beautiful colours. In the rainy seasons when the rivers flow, she loves to capture the rushing water and waving grass. In the winter months, when the snow falls, making all nature pure white, she captures all the magic, the joy and enduring powers of the Karoo landscapes.

\After a successful solo exhibition in Nieu-Bethesda in 1993, her painting have been displayed and sold from the "Village Inn Restaurant" to guest, tourist and restaurant customers.
