Re: Non-payment of Cash Prize and Unfulfilled Promises for Tsosolosetso Theatre Production

We are writing to bring to your attention the unresolved matters regarding our theatre production, Tsosolosetso, which won the 2023/2024 Best Production award at the Gauteng Ishashalazi Theatre Festival.

As the winner, we were promised a cash prize, but unfortunately, we have not received it and are still unaware of the amount. Moreover, we were also promised a trip to the 2024 National Arts Festival, as part of winning which did not materialize.

Later, it was communicated that the winning theatre group and dance group would be given a season showcase at the South African State Theatre. As they were taken to the Nation Arts Festival. However, we have not heard from you regarding this opportunity.

Despite our efforts to communicate with the Ishashalazi theatre and motjeko dance,we have been met with assurances that the matter is being looked into, with no concrete actions or updates.

We kindly request that you look into this matter urgently and provide us with the following:

- Payment of Cash Prize: The amount and payment details
- National Arts Festival
- Season Showcase at South African State Theatre: Confirmation and dates

VHASADZI is a theatre play that evolves around the struggles
women get to face in prison during apartheid. It follows the
stories of 6 real life women whom were convicted under the
apartheid regime at the Constitution Hill. The show displays
the ill-treaatment and all the harsh reaction from the whites
who were in power.
