Letsatsi Foundation invites actors, musicians and dancers from Matatiele and surrounding areas to audition for the original musical theatre production:
WHERE THE DRUMS REMEMBER
This opportunity forms part of the Matatiele Indigenous Musical Theatre Incubator, a performer-development programme that will take selected artists through practical training, workshops and an intensive rehearsal process before bringing the production to the stage.
This means we are not only looking for experienced performers.
We are also looking for raw talent, commitment, discipline and people who are willing to learn.
No previous professional experience is required. Training will be provided.
AUDITION SCHEDULE
ACTORS | Thursday, 27 August 2026
Prepare a monologue. You will also be given scenes or scenarios to perform during the audition. Actors who can sing or dance will have an added advantage.
MUSICIANS | Friday, 28 August 2026
Prepare an a ca****la song.
DANCERS | Saturday, 29 August 2026
Prepare a dance piece in Indigenous/Traditional African Dance, Afro-Fusion or Contemporary African Dance.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE AUDITIONS?
Selected performers will enter the Matatiele Indigenous Musical Theatre Incubator, where they will work together through structured training and rehearsals in preparation for Where The Drums Remember.
The process will develop skills across acting, music, movement, ensemble performance and Indigenous Musical Theatre, while giving participating artists practical experience in developing an original stage production.
If you have talent but have never had access to formal theatre training, COME!
If you can sing but have never performed in a musical, COME!
If dance is how you tell stories, COME!
If you are an actor looking for a stage on which to grow, COME!
