🏆Local Talent Faces Off at the Walter Sisulu Alive Pool Tournament 🏆

The green felt was smooth, the chalk was flowing, and the energy was electric at Lucky 7 VSlots as the community gathered for the highly anticipated Walter Sisulu Alive Pool Tournament.

A Showcase of Strategy and Local Skill
Unlike fast-paced field sports, the pool tournament brought a different kind of tension to the Walter Sisulu Alive lineup. The atmosphere at Lucky 7 VSlots was a perfect mix of sharp concentration and lively community support, with spectators crowding around the tables to witness spectacular bank shots, tactical safety plays, and dramatic final-black deciders.

The tournament gave local players (many of whom hone their skills weekly in neighborhood venues) a formal platform to showcase their talent.

Grassroots Unity: Beyond the potting and the potting angles, the event served its true purpose: bringing people together from different corners of the municipality to connect, share a laugh, and build community bonds.

The Island Conference Centre was abuzz with intellectual energy as young minds from across the Walter Sisulu Local Municipality (WSLM) gathered for a vibrant showcase of literacy, sharp arguments, and academic excellence.

The event, hosted as a cornerstone of the Walter Sisulu Alive initiative which brought together high school learners to compete in three intense, highly rewarding brainpower challenge: a Quiz Quest, Logic League, Words Worriors, Leadership Retreat and a Readerthon.

Day 2 was filled with excitement, energy, and cultural pride as learners participated in a variety of Indigenous Games. The activities showcased teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of preserving our cultural heritage.

From start to finish, participants embraced the spirit of friendly competition while celebrating traditions that continue to bring communities together.

What an incredible, vibrant, and deeply moving weekend we have just shared. As the Mayor, my heart is filled with immense pride as I look back at the success of the first Walter Sisulu Alive event. Over the past few days, our community didn't just host an event; we came together to celebrate our rich heritage, our culture, and our unity.

I want to extend my deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this weekend an unforgettable success.

A special and resounding congratulations to our newly crowned Miss Walter Sisulu. You stepped onto that stage not just with elegance and grace, but with the intelligence, vision, and spirit that defines the youth of our municipality. We are incredibly proud of you, and the Municipality looks forward to working closely with you as you embark on your journey of community upliftment and leadership.
