My name is Mthetheleli Dlakavu I am 27 years old from South Africa, in a township called Khayelitsha.I started my dance career at high school,(Chris Hani Arts and culture school) while I was doing it as subject in 2014. Then I passed my grade 12, then decided to go and do my dance training at Indoni Dance Arts and Leadership Academy. Working with the award winning Choreographer Sbonakalisa Ndaba, was my blessing from God. She's our current founder of the academy , artistic director and Choreographer of the whole company. I'm a professional dancer, choreographer and an internationally accredited Yoga Vinyasa instructor. I have been with Indoni Dance, Arts and Leadership Academy for more than 8 years and am currently a company member. During the Corona Virus crisis I joined the Health Warriors team, home of Yoga Vinyasa teaching online classes on Dancing, Yoga Vinyasa and Meditation. The kind of genres that are my main focus in the field of dance is African Contemporary, Ballet, Street dance and Gumboots dance.
I've traveled overseas for more than 3 years now and I went to :
China(SHANGHAI)
Australia (Parth and Rockingham ) and next year I'm leaving to UK Edinburgh for 3 months for a carnival that called BROUHAHA to choreograph, teach and perform.
I've been awarded at Indoni Academy for a trophy for (Honesty and Dedicated Dancer).
I have taught children dance and Leadership skills in my community in outreach classes for the past three years. I presently have 25 young members. I'm currently looking forward to working in a arts development prison program at Pollsmoor Prison teaching the offenders dance, music and leadership skills.
In 5 years to come, I see myself being a good and multi talented teacher in Dance Yoga and African Contemporary dance. I see myself traveling all over the world and spreading the love of art and giving lot of people a platform to have a opportunity and learn what I have.
