Today we had the pleasure of attending the Mapungubwe Arts Festival's Cultural Carnival with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Limpopo. The streets of Polokwane were lit up as we marched across the CBD from Olympic Towers all the way to SABC Park.

The buzzzzz was unavoidable, filled with colourful traditional fits and roars of joy. Lekgoledi Arts and Cultural Centre 's Brass Band took part in the festivies of the day with its energetic and sweet melodies.

Together, growing the arts sector in the Limpopo Province and cultivating culture.

Today, we proudly honour the incredible team of the Lekgoledi Arts and Cultural Centre (LACC) — the driving force behind the success of the inaugural Sepedi Cultural Heritage Festival (Mokete wa Maeba). ✨

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Judith Mokalapa, LACC Director, whose vision and leadership were pivotal in securing partnerships with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture Limpopo and engaging the many stakeholders who shaped this festival. Her commitment ensured that the best participants and cultural contributors were brought together.

A special acknowledgment goes to Nkgodisheng Mphahlele, Chief and Director at LACC, whose strategic oversight and business leadership made this milestone possible. His ability to build meaningful partnerships and steer the project with purpose laid the foundation for the festival’s success.

We also recognise Potšišo Lethiba, Project Manager, for her exceptional coordination of the festival — from stakeholder alignment to sponsorships and overall project oversight. Her leadership ensured that LACC met its goal of delivering a truly remarkable event.

Our appreciation extends to Ericca Marems , whose administrative and operational excellence ensured that every element of the event was well prepared. Her attention to detail ensured a seamless experience for all guests and participants.

We sincerely thank Namhla Lebona, Project Coordinator, for her committed role in administrative planning, stakeholder liaison, and media management on the day of the event. Her organisational strength and hands-on leadership contributed significantly to the smooth running of the festival.

To the entire LACC team — your unity, dedication, and passion transformed a cultural vision into a landmark achievement for the Bapedi nation.

This festival stands today because of your hard work. And as we look ahead to 2026 and beyond, we carry this spirit of excellence forward.
