📍 FESTIVAL VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT
✨ We are honoured to officially announce that our festival will be hosted at the historic Duggan-Cronin Gallery (McGregor Museum) Kimberley. ✨

A sacred space of memory.
A house of stories.

A sanctuary of preserved African identity.
Established to house the powerful photographic archive of Alfred Duggan-Cronin, the gallery forms part of the renowned McGregor Museum. Duggan-Cronin dedicated decades of his life to documenting the lives, attire, traditions and dignity of indigenous Southern African communities during the early 20th century creating one of the most significant visual records of African cultural heritage.
This is why this venue is not just a location… it is alignment.
🌍 As Awakening Social Sessions: Umthandazo,An Ode to God is rooted in cultural advocacy, spiritual reflection, poetry, indigenous knowledge systems and Afrikan renaissance the Duggan-Cronin Gallery stands as a living archive of the very identity we seek to honour, question, celebrate and reawaken.

To gather in this space is to:
• Stand where history is preserved
• Engage where memory is protected
• Create where legacy lives
We are not just hosting a festival.
We are activating a dialogue between past and present.
Between archive and performance.
Between prayer and art.
Kimberley, this is homecoming. 🔥
Join us as we awaken within the walls that have long carried the spirit of our people.

Get ready for the exciting news, the Poetry, Comedy and Storytelling Council (PoeComSto Council) is proud to announce its official establishment as part of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s (DSAC) national drive to restructure and revitalise South Africa’s creative sector.

PoeComSto is one of 17 newly formed Sector Cluster Councils developed through the August 2024 bosberaad consultation with artists and stakeholders across the country, and marks a critical step forward in empowering underrepresented voices in the arts.

“South Africa’s long-standing traditions of oral storytelling, poetic expression, and comedic social commentary are central to our culture" and it’s time to share it and embrace it!

This council is more than an administrative body, it’s a community of artists, organisers, and cultural workers committed to rewriting the narrative for our sectors. Lets stand together and start shaping the future we want in every industry.
