πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸŒπŸ’” The South African Arts Creatives Network (SAACN) is deeply saddened by the passing of global jazz icon, pianist, and cultural ambassador, Abdullah Ibrahim, who has passed away at the age of 91. πŸ•ŠοΈ

For over seven decades, Bra Abdullah used his revolutionary melodies to defy boundaries and give a voice to our collective struggle for liberation.

Masterpieces like Mannenberg and The Wedding did not just shape Cape Jazz; they became anthems of hope, freedom, and resilience for an entire nation.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his partner Dr Marina Umari, his family, and the global arts community. South Africa has lost an irreplaceable creative titan, but his spirit will forever echo through his music.

Rest in power, Maestro. Your melody lives on. 🎹

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸŒπŸ•ŠοΈ on 15 June, we at the South African Arts Creatives Network (SAACN) honor the eternal legacy of the "Urban Zulu" queen, Busi Mhlongo.

On this day in 2010, South Africa lost a legendary virtuoso singer, dancer, and initiated Sangoma who bravely battled breast cancer. Mam' Busi did not just sing; she channelled pure spiritual energy, seamlessly weaving Maskandi, Mbaqanga, and Marabi traditions with international jazz and funk rhythms.

From her classic album Urban Zulu to the powerful message of Yehlisan' Umoya maAfrika, her iconic voice remains an anchor for our cultural heritage.

Rest in power, Mama' Busi. Your music, healing energy, and truth will never fade. 🎡

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸŒπŸ•ŠοΈ Today, 13 June, we the legendary revolutionary, master drummer, and sonic freedom fighter, Louis Tebogo Moholo-Moholo. πŸ₯

On this day, the South African Arts Creatives Network (SAACN) honours the towering legacy of a cultural pioneer who bent time, broke boundaries, and carried the spirit of our liberation in every beat.

Honouring a Giant of South African Jazz As the final surviving member of the pioneering avant-garde jazz group The Blue Notes, Bra Louis fused traditional African rhythms with fearless free-jazz experimentation.

He took our music from the townships of Cape Town into international exile during apartheid, turning his drums into a profound voice for resistance and artistic freedom across the globe. In 2004, he was rightly awarded the National Order of Ikhamanga in Silver for his monumental contributions to our heritage.

After decades abroad, he returned home to inspire and mentor a completely new generation of local creatives.

Though his sticks are laid down, his untamed rhythm continues to echo in our hearts, our history, and the music of every artist who dares to play with fire.

Rest in power, Bra Louis. Spirits Rejoice! πŸ™
