Through the production of our own tailor made feature films as well as representing other independent producers/ broadcasters. is developing a network of independent agents around South Africa. Our model simply put is that we sell bulk amounts of units to independent individuals and organisations around South Africa at a price that is affordable and then give these individuals an opportunity to on
-sell the individual units to the public. Our research has shown that in South Africa there is a potential DVD buying market of between 16 million and 19.5 million people and our aim is to get a minimum of one percent of the market to regularly purchase DVD’s from us. The distributing agents themselves will be able to purchase the DVD’s at a maximum cost of R20 per unit and it will be up to them to sell the units on at a price of their choosing to the general public. We predict that the end user price will be between R30 and R50. We will also be backing the distributors up with a targeted marketing campaign. This concept is unique in the South African context as we are aiming to provide individuals with the opportunity to create livings for themselves by selling DVD’s to the general public on the one side, and offering film makers a brand new revenue stream to help them make their productions into viable financial concerns. Ultimately enabling them to continue making feature films and other forms of entertainment, thus Straight2! will play an integral role in aiding the South African film industry to grow.
