INTERNATIONAL WORLD PLAY DAY
Today we celebrate something that is often underestimated, but absolutely essential to human development: PLAY.
Play is how children learn to dream, create, solve problems, build confidence, develop social skills, and discover who they are. It is through play that imagination becomes innovation, curiosity becomes knowledge, and potential becomes achievement.
At Kunskoors, we take our educational purpose seriously. We believe that exposing young people to excellence in the arts can change lives.
That is why we are excited to announce that Kunskoors 2027 will launch a dedicated Youth Programme, running alongside our highly successful Lewende Legende (Living Legends) Project, which was introduced this year.
Through this new initiative, school learners will have the opportunity to attend world-class theatre productions, exceptional classical music concerts, and inspiring dance performances. We want our youth not only to witness excellence, but to understand that they, too, can aspire to achieve greatness.
Arts education inspires dreams. It broadens horizons. It develops creativity, discipline, empathy, and confidence, qualities that every successful society needs.
As an Occupational Therapist, I am deeply passionate about helping young people develop their full potential. Every child deserves opportunities that inspire them to imagine a bigger future for themselves. We believe that the arts can be one of those opportunities.
Today, on World Play Day, we celebrate the power of play, imagination, creativity, and possibility the very foundations upon which future artists, leaders, innovators, and dreamers are built.
Because when we invest in our children, we invest in the future of South Africa.

Dankie dat julle elke oomblik van 2026 saam met ons geleef het. Julle energie is die rede hoekom ons nou al volstoom werk aan die visie vir 2027. Ons beplan groot dinge om die kuns-ervaring na 'n heel nuwe vlak te neem. Bly ingeskakel, want hierdie gaan spesiaal wees.

Thank you for living every moment of 2026 with us. Your energy is exactly why we are already working at full steam on the vision for 2027. We are planning big things to take the arts experience to a whole new level. Stay tuned, because this one is going to be special.

Hierdie jaar was iets spesiaal. Julle het verskyn, julle het deel geword van iets groters as net 'n fees en ons het elke oomblik saam met julle gekoester.
Maar ons is nog nie klaar nie.

Kunskoors kom terug in 2027. Meer kuns, meer energie, meer van die oomblikke wat jou laat onthou hoekom dit alles die moeite werd is. Ons sien julle daar.


This year was something special. You showed up, you became part of something bigger than just a festival and we treasured every moment alongside you.
But we're not done yet.

Kunskoors returns in 2027. More art, more energy, more of the moments that remind you why it's all worth it. We'll see you there.

Waar begin 'n mens om dankie te sê vir 'n hele fees vol oomblikke?

Jeffreysbaai, julle het hierdie jaar verskyn. Julle het opgedaag vir die kuns, vir die musiek, vir mekaar. Julle het 'n klein fees groot laat voel, en 'n gewone naweek in iets onvergeetliks verander.

Elke applous, elke glimlag, elke gesprek buite na 'n vertoning, dit is wat Kunskoors werklik is. Nie die verhoog nie. Julle.
Ons is dankbaar. Diep dankbaar. En ons sien julle weer in 2027.


Where does one even begin to say thank you for a whole festival full of moments?

Jeffrey's Bay, you showed up this year. You came for the art, for the music, for each other. You made a small festival feel big, and an ordinary weekend feel unforgettable.

Every round of applause, every smile, every conversation outside after a show, that is what Kunskoors truly is. Not the stage. You.
We are grateful. Deeply grateful. And we'll see you again in 2027.

Wat ’n perfekte afsluiting vir ’n kragtige oggend! Ons het vinnig by Nicole Engelbrecht ingeloer direk ná haar gesprek met Mariska Spoormaker om haar laaste gedagtes oor die suksesvolle geleentheid te deel. Nicole se werk om ’n stem aan slagoffers te gee is waarlik inspirerend, en ons kon nie vir ’n beter einde aan die program gevra het nie. Ons hoop beslis om haar weer in die toekoms by Kunskoors te sien!


​What a perfect wrap-up to a powerful morning! We caught up with Nicole Engelbrecht for a quick chat right after her session with Mariska Spoormaker to get her final thoughts on the event's success. Nicole’s mission to provide a voice for victims is incredibly moving, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to round off the program. We’re definitely hoping to see her back at Kunskoors in the future!

Wat ’n voorreg om direk ná daardie onvergeetlike vertoning met Anna Davel en haar span te kon gesels! Die energie was nog tasbaar in die lug nadat sy ons op so ’n sielsvolle reis geneem het. Dit was een vir die boeke, en ons kan nou al sê: ons hoop om julle volgende jaar weer op ons verhoog te sien!


​What a privilege to chat with Anna Davel and her band directly after that unforgettable performance! The energy was still electric after she took us on such a soulful journey. It was truly one for the books, and we can already say: we hope to have you back on our stage next year!

Wat ’n voorreg om direk ná die eerste opvoering van "Duiwelsbrood" met Emercia de Lange van PEAAT te gesels. Sy het die hoofrol in hierdie meesterstuk deur wyle Annelie Botes met ongelooflike krag vertolk, ondersteun deur die talentvolle Vinita Nel Gouws. Om vars van die verhoog af van haar te hoor oor die rou emosie van hierdie spesiale vertoning was ’n ware hoogtepunt!


​What a privilege to interview Emercia de Lange from PEAAT directly after the first performance of "Duiwelsbrood." She delivered a powerful lead performance in this masterpiece by the late Annelie Botes, supported by the talented Vinita Nel Gouws Vinita Nel Gouws. Hearing her talk fresh off the stage about the raw emotion of this incredible show was a true highlight!
