There is something really special about records.

Digging. Collecting. Listening. The stories attached to the groove the moment the needle drops, and we’re transported into the beautiful, different realms of the music spectrum.

Welcome to , and today we bring together TheShah & Fusion – two women, two distinct musical journeys and one deep love for the culture.

TheShah comes with her soulful, deep-house sensibility and a growing connection to the art of vinyl and Fusion comes with a musical language shaped by jazz, Nu-Jazz, Broken Beats, Lounge and Deep House.

Despite their different sounds, paths and stories, both understand that being behind the decks is about far more than playing records. It is about craft and curation that speak to the artist’s identity. And above all else, it is about building a place for yourself in a culture you love.

There’s a lot to learn from and about these incredible women, and we’re ready to listen to what they have to say through the music they choose to share with us.

✨ Women Behind The Wheels Of Steel with Fusion ✨

Some musical journeys begin with a hearing record; others begin with music being embedded in your identity.

For Fusion, Jazz was an integral part of the soundtrack of childhood, introduced to her by her father and eventually becoming part of the foundation for an expansive musical identity. Today, that identity effortlessly moves through Nu-Jazz, Lounge, Broken Beats and Deep House, creating melodic sets that have taken her from intimate alternative spaces to some of South Africa's biggest music platforms.

Today, Fusion’s story includes international stages, legendary South African selectors, radio residencies and years of developing a sound that is distinctly her own, but the journey hasn't always been easy. Building a space for herself in this industry has meant being intentional about her craft, her preparation and her consistency – and, at times, working twice as hard to make sure the music speaks before anything else does.

As we wrap up Women’s Month, we don't only celebrate Fusion as a woman behind the decks, but as an artist with a sound, a story and an identity of her own. And at Vinyl Camp, we celebrate Fusion as a musical storyteller, an artist whose curiosity, versatility and unmistakable ear continue to shape the way she moves through the culture.

✨ Women Behind The Wheels Of Steel with TheShah Soulfull Queen ✨

Before the decks, there was the music.

For TheShah, the relationship with sound began in the early 2000s as a listener and collector, developing an ear for music that carried feeling, depth and story. Then, in 2023, the listener stepped behind the decks.

Her sound is deeply rooted in soulful and deep house, with a particular affinity for vinyl and everything that comes with it: crate digging, discovering records, understanding the history behind the music and the precision of analogue mixing.

It is a journey that has been shaped not only by her own curiosity, but by community. As she continues to build her presence behind the decks, TheShah has found support, mentorship, and musical kinship within the vinyl community; a space where she continues to learn, experiment and grow.

And that, is why her story is so important. It proves that building a career as a DJ doesn't begin when the crowd arrives, it begins much earlier - in the collecting, the listening, the learning, the investment and the decision to take your love of music seriously.

As we wrap up Women’s Month, we celebrate TheShah as a selector, collector and student of sound who is carving out her own space. And at Vinyl Camp 2026, we celebrate TheShah as a woman shaping her own relationship with the culture – one groove, one record and one carefully curated journey at a time.

Just a short walking distance from the Acacia campsite and Vinyl Camp marquee, with 80 spacious camp stands, electric points and 4 ablution blocks, here's the Bokenhout Campsite we will also be using for
