On the 17th of June it was a bitter reminder to me uba he took his last breath ezandleni zam noMyenam in 2021,he succumbed to Cancer after a long battle with it,eyoyisa most of the time iphele vuthu yabuya aggressively after 12 years battle...we burried him on the 26th of June 2021.
This Month is bitter sweet for me...
My Father was born in the dusty streets of East London at Duncan Village kwaMekeni and wayezibiza uMFana wase Sikomo..
He was raised as the 1st born where his grandfather demanded ayohlala kwaNdlovukazi in Queenstown wabuya to do his higher primary eZiphunzane sele eMdadlana.
I want to share few things that i want you take with you from him that i admire ngaye...
He was raised from a poor family but he never stopped dreaming of becoming great.
He studied uStd 6 enight School elayita ikhandlela xa efunda ebusuku(elibiza ufinya futhi),wayeye xa ephuma emsebenzini, aye enight school abuye afunde ezovuka aphangele..... This was to persue his dream of attaining education as he was told by his parents upasa kwakhe uStd 5 uba makayo phangela soze kulanjwe ekhona kunyamezelwe uba elibele ku funda, wazicenga wayophangela abanye beyofunda eHill Town abazintanga zakhe, waphangela ePosini engu messenger eqhuba ibhayisekile, waqashwa later eDaimler eyayibizwa iNash ngoko.
While working at Daimler Chrysler with uStd 6 after marrying my Mother in 1973 who was currently doing her BA in Social Work,he studied on Correspondence with Damelin to persue his studies and later joined night school yaseMDantsane
doing iJC and Matriculated efunda enight school..
In agreement with My late Mom he went to study his BA degree in UFH and HED..his late Mother was livid by his decision ebuza uzakondliwa ngubani and My Mother said you are never old to persue your dream hambo funda Myenam ndizakuba gada abantwana ..wabuya nayo idegree yakhe and iteaching diploma on record time...
He was hunted to join iSilimela High school as an English and History teacher by uLate Principal uNkonki, while he graduated in 1990 he was already a teacher and he produced 100% English results at Silimela in Berlin during his time.
Ndithetha ngalaBhuti wayefunda ngekhandlela, lho kwathwa yi1st born makayophangela while ontanga ndini were going to Hill town to persue education..
He later became an HOD kwaEnglish and 5 years later he became a Principal at Nkwanca in Queenstown and he produced excellent results there.
In honour of him and his resilience i want to say dont ever stop dreaming
Did i tell you he wrote Xhosa novels
UZwelinjani,Sithi silapha sibe siphaya(a book that was read in high schools)
My Father irrespective of his poor and hard background he never stopped dreaming and he achieved most of his dreams....
He remained humble and God fearing through it all
He retired enguMhloli
Today i want to say Black child phupha and never stop believing in yourself .
With God all things are possible
