In(hair)itance at National Arts Festival... our debut festival run at the NAG Fringe earlier this month was unforgettable ✨️

Meeting audiences who connect to these characters and their stories has been the most fulfilling part of journeying with this work- thank you for sharing your stories with us in return and showing up again and again...

To the National Arts Festival Fringe team for allowing us this opportunity and a shout out to the dedicated tech team at the Masonic Front for getting us stage ready through late nights and focusing issues, we appreciate you!

Lastly a BIG thank you to everyone who donated to our fundraising campaign , your support made it possible for us to take this small but impactfull production on the road. Theatre can't exist without the support of communities and we're so grateful to have you all as part of oursπŸ«‚πŸ©·

Until next time...

✨ 1 DAY TO GO ✨

Every story begins with someone brave enough to tell it.

There is a quiet courage in creating. In taking an idea that has lived in your heart and giving it shape. In trusting that memory can become movement, conversation can become theatre, and stories can become places where we recognise ourselves.

Tomorrow is the final day to support our BackaBuddy campaign before In(hair)itance takes the stage at the National Arts Festival.

If this journey has resonated with you, we'd be so grateful for your support in these final moments. Every donation, every share, and every kind word has helped carry this story forward.

✨ 2 DAYS LEFT ✨

Transformation rarely announces itself. It simply begins.

Perhaps that's why we create.

To stretch ourselves into shapes, lines, colours, movement, and stories that say the things words alone cannot. To make space for recognition. For conversation. For change.

There are just **2 days left** to support our journey before In(hair)itance takes the stage at the National Arts Festival.

If this story has found you, we'd love for you to help carry it a little further.

✨ 4 DAYS TO GO ✨

Some stories stay with us long after they're told.

In just four days, In(hair)itance arrives at the National Arts Festival.

Thank you for every share, every donation, and every word of encouragement. Together, we're bringing this story to the stage.

Every story has a texture.

Some are soft with memory.
Some are rough with history.
Some are layered with the people, places, and moments that shape us.

As we built the world of In(hair)itance, texture became another way of telling the storyβ€”giving form to memory, identity, and belonging before a single word is spoken.

✨ Every detail carries meaning.

We have always used stories to find each other.
To say:
"I've felt that too."
"I've carried that too."
"I've wondered that too."
Perhaps that is why we return to them again and again.
As we count down to our National Arts Festival debut, we're sharing some of the words, reflections, and ideas that helped shape In(hair)itance.
Because sometimes a single sentence can hold an entire inheritance.

🚨 6 DAYS TO GO 🚨

What have you inherited that isn't visible?

A story. A ritual. A wound. A way of moving through the world?

In(hair)itance is an exploration of the things we carry long before we have the language to name them. The memories, expectations, identities, and histories woven into us through family, culture, and hair.

In just 6 days, we'll be taking this conversation to the National Arts Festival.

There is still time to support us on this journey! Every donation helps us bring this independently produced South African production to new audiences and keeps this important conversation growing.

In(hair)itance is a reflection on memory, culture, and belonging...
The stories handed down to us. The rituals that anchor us. The expectations that shape our sense of self. The identities we negotiate, challenge, and redefine.

From 1–4 July, join us at the National Arts Festival Makhanda as we trace the threads that bind us to those who came before us, while considering what we choose to carry into the future.

If you won't be attending the festival, you can still support our team! Consider donating the value of a ticket (R120) or more to our BackaBuddy campaign and help bring In(hair)itance to the National Arts Festival!
