Grade 11 Life Science Term 2 Experiment

We conducted an experiment as part of our section on Respiration & Photosynthesis.
The aim of the investigation is determine whether gas is produced when yeast undergoes anaerobic respiration.
Each bottle contained yeast & warm water, however, only 3 bottles contained sugar in varying amounts. Bottle 4’s balloon, which contained 3 teaspoons of sugar, expanded the most, proving that gas is released during anaerobic respiration.

Grade 12 Life Sciences Practical - DNA Extraction

Our Grade 12 learners conducted an experiment whereby they created a lysis solution, adding it to mashed strawberries. This was then mixed with methylated spirits to separate the strawberry DNA. This experiment pairs up with our Term 1 curriculum - DNA: The code of life.

This informative and engaging session will take place on 16 February and is a paid-for event. There will be separate, age-appropriate sessions tailored specifically for the
