🌍 Happy World Book Day!

For many of us from the Cape Flats, our journey hasn’t been easy. We've faced challenges like gang violence and substance abuse, and some of us have come from difficult home environments. Yet, these obstacles did not define who we are today.

We often found solace in libraries, using books to escape reality instead of turning to the streets or hanging out with the wrong crowd. The library on the Cape Flats is more than just a place to read; it’s where dreams can turn into reality, where change can begin, and where potential is recognized and nurtured.

Many of us have chosen a different path—away from drugs and gangsterism—because giving up is not an option for us. We have dreams, and they are within reach!

Today, we continue to strive for success through education and personal growth. We’re harnessing platforms like TikTok and Facebook to uplift ourselves, sharing knowledge and building our businesses, rather than engaging in negativity.

Let’s celebrate the power of books and education in shaping our future! 📚✨

Tarryn-Lee Bell and myself had the privilege of speaking with Aunty Charlene tonight, who has shown remarkable strength in the face of tragedy, having lost two sons due to the senseless violence in Leonsdale. Her one son was taken from her at the tender age of 26 and her other son, just 21 years old, was taken earlier this year in January... Will upload video soon!!

What is going on, People of the Cape Flats?

From Mitchell’s Plain to Elsies River, Khayelitsha to Delft — our communities are crying out, yet our voices are not being heard.

We cannot remain silent while our children bleed, while our families mourn, while our people live in fear.

We will be in Manenberg tomorrow — 12 November 2025, together with stakeholders from across Cape Town, to listen to the voices of our people and to find immediate responses to this crisis.

🗣️ Let your Voice be Counted, because it Matters!

🎙Bullying | What a Difference a Year Makes, ©️ Naked Reflections with Tarryn Bell

It starts in the home! But what if the house is no longer a home - Tarryn-Lee Bell

On the 21st of October 2024, I made this video.
Same issue, different community — Mitchell’s Plain, 2024.

:
Assault is bullying. Because at its core, bullying is rooted in power — the imbalance between the stronger and the weaker.
That’s why we see it even between siblings as young as toddlers. One might be older, taller, louder, or just more dominant.

Power shows up in age, size, status, or influence — and that’s why bullying can happen absolutely anywhere.

It starts in the home! But if the house is no longer a home - How do we respond to behavioural change as community healers, teachers,& religions institutions.
