One of my own plants inspired me to use this combination of colours 5 months ago. The idea was to make a pot for my plant but they sold quickly and my plant is still in its plastic container 😂

When my dog Cara crossed the rainbow bridge, our wonderful vet sent the most beautiful bouquet of flowers. But when the flowers died, I found it unbearable to throw them away and felt that I wanted something that I could put a living plant in and look at every day.
My mom sent me some money to buy a gorgeous pot for my garden. The pot now stands on my balcony with an olive tree in it.
I decided to mosaic pots that can be used in the loving memory of a pet. This is the first one with doggie paw prints. Note the little blue flowers depicting forget-me-nots.
Here is a photo of Cody when we chose Cara's pot and some pics of the new mosaics.
Pots can be ordered in different sizes and colours.

I told the gate security that I was expecting a parcel delivery. That it’s a book so not large.
When they called to say the parcel had been delivered the chap said” but this isn’t any book, it’s in a big box labeled FRAGILE.”
My JAN journal arrived meticulously packed. Just unwrapping it is a sensual feast. The feel of the smooth tissue paper, folded immaculately, the contrast of the gold stickers against the dark blue wrapping and the smell of a newly printed book.
For those who think is just a chef - you’ve got it wrong. JAN is a creative genius. The restaurants, the series , the journals - a work of extraordinary art.
I am not a chef. I’m not even a cook and food preparation is certainly not my passion.
But immersing myself in the magnificent creations of others is what ignited my own creativity and I am going to feed off the incredible content of journal no 7 for weeks to come.

Returning to Art

My first pet portrait of my beautiful spaniel Cara. A therapeutic project. I got Cara as an 8 week old pup in 2006 shortly before I got divorced.

Although I had reservations about adding to my responsibilities at this turbulent time, Cara became my one constant in the ten years that followed. No matter the challenge, my loyal companion stayed near and dear. She became my beacon of hope and comfort.

In February 2016, I was working through an intensely painful personal challenge when Cara was diagnosed with Cancer. Malignant oral melanoma, for which there is no cure. I tried every available alternative treatment, all to no avail, and at the beginning of May, my beautiful dog's time ran out.

Cara's death left me feeling soulless.Never did I imagine that losing a pet could feel so devastating. Although I tried hard to regain my enthusiasm for life, love, work, I failed under the barrage of accumulated disappointment and hurt.
