Many people enter marriage still emotionally centered around being someone’s child or later become so consumed with being someone’s parent that they forget the covenant they made as husband and wife. Marriage was designed to have two people at the center of it, the husband and the wife.

Children are a blessing, but they are not the foundation of marriage. Parents are to be honored, but they must not become the controlling voice in a marriage. The marital covenant is primary. This is why Scripture says, “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). Notice the order leave, cleave, become one.

Some marriages struggle because one spouse is still more loyal to their family of origin than to their partner or because children become the entire focus while the marriage starves in the background. Sungano (read your name), children eventually grow and leave, parents will one day be gone, but husband and wife are meant to build a life together.

A healthy marriage says: I honor my parents, I love my children, but I protect my spouse. Because when the center is strong, the whole home stands. Marriage is not sustained by parenting; parenting is strengthened by a healthy marriage.

Agreement is not merely walking side by side; it is sharing conviction, direction and spirit. Two people can hold hands yet pull in opposite directions. God blesses unity of purpose, not just proximity.

[3] Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

David returned to Ziklag and found everything attacked, burned and taken away. The men around him cried until they had no strength left. But the Bible says, “David encouraged himself in the Lord.”
Sometimes life hits hard. Things fall apart. People disappoint you. Plans collapse. Yet even in pain, God can restore your strength from within.

Hanzi naWinky D, “rega ndifinhure chinhamo chiripo nehappy”, trouble exists, but joy can still exist too. And “Kufara kwangu haisi mistake.” Refusing to lose your joy is not foolishness; sometimes it is faith.

David did not deny the pain, but he refused to stay defeated. He prayed, rose up, and recovered all. The enemy wants your spirit broken before your situation changes. But like David, encourage yourself in the Lord. Cry if you must, pray when you can, but don’t surrender your joy.

“Saka finhu finhu finhu...” because God is not finished with your story.

The Devil’s master plan is not always to stop people from being spiritual, sometimes it is to separate them from the very place where they can grow, heal, serve, and be accountable. He is comfortable with isolated spirituality, because isolation weakens people over time. A person disconnected from community becomes easier to discourage, offend, deceive, and exhaust.

Don’t fall for it.

God never designed us to walk alone. Community is essential because strength, encouragement, correction, and comfort are found among believers. Family is important because healthy relationships remind us that love requires patience, forgiveness, sacrifice, and unity. The church is not perfect because it is made up of imperfect people, yet it remains God’s chosen place for fellowship, worship, and spiritual growth.

You can love God and still struggle with people, but healing is found in learning to love people the way Christ loves us. Don’t let disappointment turn into bitterness or distance.
Love one another. Support one another. Pray for one another. Stay connected. Sometimes your greatest breakthrough is hidden in the community you are tempted to leave.
