And just like that, the choir competition has come to an end ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ช, and the choir is heading home. We achieved a silver medal ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅˆ in the Chamber Choir Category, and this experience has been incredibly uplifting and has strengthened our bonds as a choir.

We were surprised to win silver, not because we doubted our abilities, but because some of the other choirs performing at the friendship concerts were on a whole different level. We were truly amazed by their talent and knew we were in for a tough competition.

It was a moment of immense pride for the Treble Clefs when we witnessed our choir conductor accepting the medal. Another proud moment was when we stood and sang our national anthem not just once, but twice, as Paul Roos High School from Stellenbosch took home gold in two categories.

The first few days were packed with rehearsals and performances at friendship concerts, even treating the guests at our hotel to a song or two, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

After the medal ๐Ÿ… ceremony, we finally had the chance to unwind and indulge in some tourist activities. We arranged for a driver who took us to a boat modeling factory, a dormant volcano followed by a visit to a local t-shirt and gift shop that offered great prices. We explored the Black River Waterfall and savored the most delicious Mauritian cuisine for lunch at a restaurant tucked away in a forest.
We also visited Grand Bassin, where we marveled at the largest statues we had ever seen.

After a day filled with fun and exploration, we returned home to prepare for our all-white dinner evening. And of course, in true Cape Town fashion, the ladies took over the dance floor ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ, much to the delight of the other tourists.

The next day, we booked a day trip to Ile aux Cerfs island on a Catamaran cruise. We boarded the catamaran via a speedboat, and as we approached the waterfall, we hopped back onto the speedboat to get even closer. We enjoyed lunch on the catamaran, where they barbecued meat and fish right on the boat, and we also stopped at a spot with crystal-clear water where snorkeling was an option if you wished.
Once again, staying true to our Cape Town vibe, the ladies dazzled the other tourists with their fantastic dance moves. We spent some time on the island and returned feeling exhausted yet sun-kissed.

Upon arriving back at the hotel, we freshened up and got dressed for dinner, followed by packing since our flight was scheduled for 8:00 AM, and we needed to be ready by 5:15 AM for the airport transfer.

Indeed, it was a brief trip, but absolutely worth it. We are looking forward to attending another Choir Games in two or more years, and this time, we are aiming for gold.

Thank you for all your support and prayers.

And just like that, the moment had finally arrived for us to perform. Months of hard work were finally over, and as our choir leader always says, we have done the work, now itโ€™s time to reap the rewards.

Yesterday morning, we went to Phoenix Mall where we participated in the friendship concert to entertain the shoppers. We shared the stage with three other choirs from Germany, Indonesia, and Rodrigues Island . It was an unforgettable experience.

After the friendship concert, we returned home for our last and final rehearsal before presenting our performance to the judges.

We were well aware that the composer of one of the songs we were performing would be on the judging panel, which naturally added some anxiety, but there was no turning back now.

When we arrived at the beautiful concert venue, the dream truly became a reality.

The organizers followed a very strict schedule. We were given 15 minutes on stage to rehearse and finalize our positions. From the moment the first member of our choir stepped onto the stage, a 15-minute countdown began. A board would be shown indicating how many minutes remained, and at the 15-minute mark, we had to leave the stage promptly.

Just before performing, we were allowed 10 minutes in a soundproof warm-up room, and again, this was strictly timed.

As we walked onto the stage, Iโ€™m sure all our hearts were beating faster and our palms might have been sweaty, but the moment had finally come. We gave the best performance we could, and just like that, our three pieces were sung and the moment was over.

We will return to the concert venue tomorrow afternoon to hear the results for our category.

If we win, it will be wonderful, but even if we donโ€™t, it has still been an experience of a lifetime.

Our choir leader mentioned that, for her, the most important goal was to perform on an international stage and receive feedback from international judges. We can only learn from the reviews we receive.

So today, after a busy and full first few days, we are off to a sightseeing tour of the southern part of the island.

Meeting the writer of the song we will be singing at the competition tonight was another amazing experience for us. The fact that he will be one of the judges makes it a little nerve-racking.
