Fritha Langerman, Associate Professor at Michaelis, opened the LIGHT FROM DARK exhibition, sharing memories of Alma's astonishing etchings. "Alma speaks of her relationship with printmaking and etching as a love affair, an eternal embrace that holds her captive." View some of these rich, complex etchings that "show us glimpses of magical, staged worlds of changelings and ancient beings".

Please join us on 11 March for ‘Light from Dark’ an exhibition celebrating the variety and technical prowess of print. In conversation with the work of Cape Town printmaker, Alma Vorster whose etchings date from the 1980s, are the contemporary prints of the print collective. Themes in the works include the mysteries and mythology of nature, the personal sense of place within the natural world, where light and shadow inform subject matter, concerns with contemporary consumerism and the stewardship (or lack thereof) of the environment.
