The Stage: A Final Farewell with Stone & Hinds (And Guests)

On 28 February at 6:30pm, we invite you to join us for an evening that carries deep meaning for everyone connected to The Stage. This will be our final event before we close the theatre.

Our closing night features a full performance by Stone & Hinds, offering a heartfelt mix of original songs and select covers from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rodriguez, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, and others. The evening will also include special guests, who will be announced soon. Expect an intimate night of storytelling, reflection, and music that resonates.

The Stage opened its doors on 1 July 2023, and since then it has hosted shows almost every month. It became a place where locals could gather, connect, and enjoy live performance in a warm, personal setting.

Closing our doors is incredibly difficult. This space has held so many moments, so many voices, and so many people who believed in what a small theatre can mean to a community. We hope this final night honours all of that.

For those of you attending the Valentine’s show on Saturday, we have a special treat. Annie is preparing amazing mezze platters for showgoers! The full a la carte menu will also be available. Meals will be served inside the theatre for those who’d like to dine during the show. If you plan to eat, please arrive from 5:30pm so that service can be completed before the performance begins.

It is with great sadness that we announce that The Little Theatre on the Green will be closing at the end of February.

For the past three years, it has been an absolute privilege to bring world‑class entertainment to our community, hosting extraordinary musicians from across South Africa and abroad. This journey has been filled with joy, creativity, and unforgettable moments shared within our intimate space.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every person who has supported this little gem over the years. We have been truly blessed to meet so many wonderful people, and our audiences have been nothing short of exceptional. The music that has echoed through our walls has been majestic, and the energy you brought to every performance made this venue come alive.

As is often the case with the arts in South Africa, sustaining a venue like ours is a constant financial challenge. After many months of careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close, balancing our passion for what we do with the realities of long‑term viability.

A special thank‑you goes to Kurt Stone and Melanie Hunter for keeping the shows running while I have been overseas.

Our deepest gratitude also goes to the incredible musicians who have graced our stage with their talent, and to the supporters who have stood by us, encouraged us, and helped keep the theatre alive. Your kindness and commitment have meant more than words can express.

A HUGE thank you to Lizz Briggs and Aubrey for letting us use this incredible space over this past 3 years!

Another big thank you to the few individuals that have gone above and beyond to help keep the theatre going! I will be sending you all a personal message.

We will be hosting a few final shows throughout February, with our last performance taking place at the end of the month.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at The Stage!

Join us at The Stage (Little Theatre on the Green) for a special Valentine’s evening of live music and local talent.

Bathurst’s own Dave & Lauren take the stage at 6:30pm, performing an mix of familiar favourites and heartfelt originals. Expect a rich blend of classics and crowd‑pleasers from artists like Talking Heads, David Gray, Led Zeppelin, George Ezra, Bruno Mars, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Rodriguez, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix and more; all delivered with their signature style and chemistry.

The Bathurst Riding Club invites you to an unforgettable fundraiser evening at the Historic Pig and Whistle Inn, Bathurst. We are thrilled to host internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Riaan Smit for the evening.
Many locals will remember Riaan as a highlight of last year’s Bathurst Country Affair , where he absolutely stole the show with his powerhouse Johnny Cash tribute and masterful guitar skills.
Known as the frontman of the SA hit band Crimson House, Riaan brings a high-energy fusion of Afro-gypsy blues, folk, and rock 'n' roll to the stage. His signature "whisky-dipped" vocals, mastery of looping and storytelling ensures a world-class musical experience.
