The Zolani Youth Choir warmly invites you to a special fundraising concert as we raise funds towards taking our young voices and proudly African sound to Japan in 2027.

NOW STREAMING: “OSIYEZA” 🎶

The Zolani Youth Choir is proud to announce the release of OSIYEZA, a beautiful rendition of the iconic Johnny Clegg song featuring the incredible Zolani Mahola alongside the Zolani Youth Choir.

This collaboration is a celebration of South African music, hope, unity, and power to young voices. We invite everyone to stream, download and share this beautiful song on your favourite digital music platforms.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Zolani Mahola for her remarkable collaboration, generosity, and unwavering support to the choir. We also sincerely thank the entire production team for their dedication, professionalism, and exceptional work in bringing this project to life.

As we celebrate this special release, we also honour the enduring legacy of the late Odwa Mvunge, whose vision and passion continue to guide the choir.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the passing of our beloved Chairperson, Mr Odwa Mvunge, the Zolani Youth would like to inform our supporters, partners, clients, and the broader community that Dr Nathunathi Mvunge has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the choir.

During our period of mourning, choir activities were temporarily paused as we grieved the loss of our leader. We sincerely thank everyone for the love, prayers, patience, and support shown to us during this difficult time.

We would like to assure everyone that the Zolani Youth Choir will continue to serve our community with the same commitment and excellence. Effective immediately, all choir bookings, enquiries, and other matters that were previously handled by Mr Odwa Mvunge will now be managed by Dr Nathunathi Mvunge. We appreciate your continued support as we honour Odwa’s legacy by ensuring that the choir continues to grow and fulfil its mission.

We learned this week of the passing of Odwa Mvunge. He was the founder and conductor of the Zolani Youth Choir in Ashton the in the Boland Region of the Western Cape.

In January 2020 Odwa sat down with me in the Fine Music Radio studios for an interview about his life and work, and the upcoming trip of the choir to the World Choir Games 2020 in Belgium. They would have also toured Germany for a cultural exchange.

The interview was never aired. We’re publishing the podcast of the interview now in the memory of Odwa who dedicated his life to his work. “..the primary(goal) is to show the kids that through dedication, time and perseverance, and putting your heart to a certain thing, nothing is impossible.”
