This is an excerpt from the recently-written CHESTNUT TREE CAFÉ (2026). In this poem I have inserted myself into the world of George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four as an observer watching the novel's protagonist in the café after his time in Room 101. The image is a still from the film adaptation, 1984, directed by Michael Radford.

An excerpt from an old, old poem, ICE (1994), which is about something just being out of reach. Photography by me.

An excerpt from a new poem FIRST FLICHT TIL MERS (2026) which is about being overwhelmed. I was concerned that I had based too many recent poems in Lossiemouth, even if they had different emotional settings, so decided to find a more distant setting. Photography by me in South Africa as I don't have any from Mars.
