Thank you all for your kind words yesterday. You all reminded me of what a positive, life affirming thing creating and sharing art is, and how blessed I am to be able to do it.

Dear followers and friends: I need your help making a decision. The common use of AI these days has made it super easy for art scammers, and the daily chore of detecting and blocking them is a real pain. Some scammer pages are easy to spot, but some are pretty clever, and time consuming to detect. They are relentless, and META does not seem interested in doing anything about their fake pages. Each day I respond to multiple messages from people interested in buying art--99% are scammers, either offering me exorbitant amounts of money to turn my work into NFTs or trying to "buy" my artwork using a fake payment site. The nice person part of me hates the idea of possibly offending a genuine fan by mistaking them for a scammer. I started this art page to share my art with people, and although I do sometimes make a sale to someone who sees something they like on this page, my main goal has always been to share my painting progress and get feedback from you all. "Back in the day", blocking and reporting the occasional scammer was not much trouble. These days, it is time consuming and downright depressing. I still think I benefit from posting my artwork, and hearing your feedback. How about you--do you like seeing my art posts, or are your lives getting too busy? I would love to hear your opinions. PS. Expect scammers to interject themselves in to this conversation to offer sources of "help".

Jim, Mary, and I spent last evening enjoying the Egyptian Geese and sunset on the Guadalupe at Flat Rock Park. The bald cypresses are finally beginning to turn orange and it was lovely out there. The painting is "Egyptians", depicting a pair of these unusual birds--not truly geese or ducks.

I painted this impression of the Tarpon Inn in Port Aransas, TX several years ago. The original image sold, but I recently accepted a commission to paint a different version (watch this page). I am hoping that warm subtropical thoughts fill my mind on this freezing morning while I sketch ideas.

Sometimes artists inadvertently become preservers. This building on Francisco Lemos St in Kerrville was one of the last standing reminders of what was once a thriving business district of mostly Hispanic ownership. Just down the street, where a commercial storage facility now stands, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church was the spiritual center. Late this summer, people started tearing this building down. Only a vacant lot remains. "Cerrado" is 16x20, watercolor and graphite on paper. I am glad that I was moved to paint this while it still stood. Available.

My local Guadalupe Watercolor Group has a "creativity challenge" for members to work on between meetings. Our current assignment was to create something using an Analogous color scheme--3 or 4 adjacent colors on the color wheel plus black and/or white. #1 was done using Alizarin Crimson, (red), Cadmium Scarlet(red orange), Pyrrole Orange, Dialyride (yellow orange) and Sodalite(black). #2 was done using Quin Violet(red violet), Alizarin(red), Cadmiuim Scarlet(red orange), and Pyrrole Orange, plus sodalite(black) and Titanium White.

I have recently done some updating on my artist website and added some new work. I hope that you will have a look!
