Tulip shell hook earrings
Metal cast brass, brass wire and finished in 24k gold plating.
I collected tulip shells from the shores of the Indian Ocean in lamu during my trip in 2024, made them into brass through metal casting (see our highlight on brass casting to learn more) and later released them in our 2024 Nam Ataro collection.
Light to the ear, simple but chic and great for everyday day minimalist wear☀️

We’re proud to be part of Nairobi Design Week 2026, happening from 7–15 March.

This year’s theme is “Let Us Be Human.” For us, that means honoring the hand and the maker. What is more human than handmade jewelry?

Find us at Shah Houses, 600 Ngara Road (Visit Ngara), for all nine days. The festival will also take place at Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut, and Diba Studios.

We’ll be previewing some of our latest works. See you there.

The Guar ring, from Maguar - a dholuo word meaning rough is a dome ring from our Nam Ataro collection which explored elements of the sea and texture as beauty.
The ring was first hand sculpted by Nairobi based sculptor in polymer clay then went through metal casting to have it in brass and later finished in 24k gold plating as seen on slide one & chrome silver plating as seen on slide two.

We’ve taken a little time off since the Xmas box pop-up — partly to rest, and partly to take in what that weekend meant for us.

Meeting so many of you in person was a gift we don’t take lightly. Hearing your thoughts, your stories, and even your suggestions reminded us why this work matters. Thank you for showing up, for choosing us, and for growing this little dream with us.

Kauwri is built with the hands of artisans from low-income neighbourhoods who are learning, improving, and building their life through creativity. Every purchase helps someone earn a dignified living — and helps us keep making pieces that make you feel beautiful and seen.

We won’t be doing any major pop-ups until next year, but we are still here, still creating, and still open to orders.
